    3 Deck Blackjack???

    Hello everyone,

I'm here in Tucson. I was talking with pit personnel who said with a straight face that they offer 3 deck blackjack. 3 deck blackjack????? I felt like I was in an alternate universe - like that time my young son said his stuffed animal was a Puffin and not a Penguin. How had I made it 40 years on Earth never having learned of Puffins? Mandela Effect??

I do not EVER recall learning on this Forum or elsewhere (e.g., Wizard of Odds Basic Strategy web pages, Blackjack Attack, etc.) about 3 deck blackjack. What am I missing? Is this a relatively new game? Was it created to increase the House edge over double deck blackjack?

I have CBJN from February 2006 which shows 3-Deck games in the Tucson area.

    Thanks, Intermediate.

I should have clarified that I was just passing through Tucson. I am returning to the Midwest today,

Does anybody else find 3 deck blackjack strange? Maybe it is just local to Tucson? What prompted the introduction of 3 decks? I assume basic strategy for 3 decks is similar to basic strategy for 2 decks, but has anybody generated basic strategy charts for 3 decks?

No, for 3 decks you have to use the basic strategy for multi-deck. However, there is only one change between one strategy and the other: you don't have to surrender (LS/ES) with 16v9.

    For 3D,S17,DOA,DAS,SPA1,SPL3,NS the EV is:

    TD-EV = -0.300361%
    CD-EV = -0.294419%

    For 3D,H17,DOA,DAS,SPA1,SPL3,NS the EV is:

    TD-EV = -0.505562%
    CD-EV = -0.501131%

    Sincerely,
    Cac

3 decks with 1 cutoff plays like a shoe game and is actually good. 3 decks center cut is a waste of your time. 3 decks with a 1/2 deck cutoff plays like a good double deck. I got backed off from Desert Diamond's three decker (yes I crushed it). They had s17 ds and late surrender on it at one time.

I've heard about 3 deck games but never tried it. And I also was surprised to hear about it the first time. However, it never changed my preferences, and I still like the classic game a bit more. I think three deck game may be more exciting sometimes, but it is still too complicated compared to what I've used to. When I want to enjoy the game, I mostly choose the simplest because being stressed and everything always doesn't sound relaxing. I even found a few reliable casinos which are easy to play; I hope you'll enjoy it

    Renzey,

In the game I played in Tucson a few months ago, the cards were dealt face-up out of a shoe, just like a 6D game.

I played a 3D game in NM about 10 years ago and it was dealt face up from a shoe.
