    Winter Just Won't Die
Its been a pretty rough week with it snowing some almost every day. On Monday schools were closed with the heavy wet snow. I shoveled for 1.5 hours. It snowed another 4 inches on Tuesday, and again another 1.5 hours of snow shoveling. The rest of the week saw only a dusting or an inch of snow. It wasn't enough to shovel, but the snow isn't melting. Still have over a foot of snow on the ground in my back yard.

Duluth MN, broke their all time snow record this year. However, just about every year we get about double their all time snow record.

The snow is starting in the higher elevations. Hope it will be just rain where I'm at.

We haven't had snow this late in the year for a long time, but it is not unprecedented. Munising MI in the U.P. received 11 inches of snow on May 23-24, 1917, and Marquette MI received 10 inches of snow on May 24-25 1893. However that was back in the days before global warming. However, more recently 22 inches fell on May 9-10, 1990.

    Web cam for Ironwood MI.
They are suppose to get the most snow from our latest storm. It doesn't look too bad yet, but they are getting snow. No snow so far where I'm at, just a lot of rain.

    Shoveled Today
We only got about 2 inches of snow so far, but it was the wet heavy slushy kind. For some reason they closed the schools. However this slushy snow can suck you into the other lane if you get out of the main travel tracks.

However some areas did get hit pretty hard. Last night I was watching the radar and the Herman area was getting pounded. Herman, MI is located in the foothills of the Huron Mountains, and it also holds the record for the most snow in a single day in MI.

Anyway here are some of the snow totals so far. It is still snowing.

More snow for us today. This morning there was only about a half an inch of snow that came overnight. I thought the storm was over, but think again. At 7:00 am the temp was 34, but then it started snowing again and the temp actually dropped to 32 by 11:00 a.m. By, noon we must have received close to 4 inches of heavy wet snow.

Marquette is the largest city in the in the U.P. and they got hammered breaking all kinds of snow records. Something like 19.8 inches of snow in one day which is a lot any time, but especially this late in the season.

Yeah, 32 inches of snow from our last storm over a 2 day period just a little Northwest of Marquette.

And Herman in Baraga County MI takes the cake with a whopping 52 inches of snow from April 29 thru May 2 2023.

I mentioned earlier in this thread how I was watching the radar for this storm and how Herman seemed to be the bullseye. We never received anything like this amount where I am. However, I must still have around 10 inches of snow on the ground along the tree line in my back yard and close to a 3 feet snow pile from my roof being shoveled. Spring clean-up is still a couple of weeks away.
