Down Under Blackjack is a game developed in 2017 that is positive EV using any counting strategy for betting and a custom basic strategy. You can also add indices. It is described at: https://wizardofodds.com/games/down-under-blackjack/. Basically, you are provided with a hint to the dealer down card. Down cards are classified as blue (2 to 5), red (6 to 9) or gold (10 or Ace). On the bad side, if the dealer reaches a score of 22, all wagers left standing will push except a player blackjack, any total of 21, or two 10 point cards. These will win. Other than that, standard blackjack rules apply.

This is the kind of game I like. APs can win. Casinos will also win because the normal basic strategy will give the casinos a more than healthy edge and the correct strategy is non-trivial.

CVData V6 now has added functionality as follows:

  • The bad DownUnder 22 rule added at Nuances-Other Stuff
  • Since you have some information about the dealer down card, but not exact information, this is simulated using the partial holecarding function, where the player sees the down card, but isn’t quite certain what it is.
  • Blue, red, and gold strategy tables, without indices, are included in the Player Strategies QFIT folder. These were generated with CVData.
  • A template has been added that allows easy creation of a standard setup. Click New, enter a sim name, and click on Templates then Down Under Blackjack.
  • Simulation and index generation are supported in case you wish to extend the advantage.
  • Clicking Call CVCX will calculate optimal betting.

If you have CVData V6 installed, install the free update at: https://qfit.com/downloads.htm#free. Make certain the update is at least update6812. You may need to refresh the page.

I suggest anyone with V6 to install the update as there has been some cleanup work, some minor suggestions implemented, and there was a bug with multi-hand no hold card in a recent update
