    Computer

As everyday life slowly shifts online, there is nothing better than having a good monitor and a powerful computer at home. Here I will publish Hi Tech news and recommendations.

And so, let's discuss. First news-

The engineering prototype of the Ryzen 7600x processor bypassed the Ryzen 5950x by 10%.

Does technology really move that fast?

Yes. I read a dozen or so tests of future chips a month. But, I tend to put little trust in such test results as there are almost as many variables as blackjack. Motherboard, frequencies, benchmark tools, cooling, stepping, who's running the tests, what they are comparing to. And, they aren't final chips. The Ryzen 7600x looks good on paper and will certainly be faster. How much will differ on the particular chip and the task. Intel announced today they are moving up the Raptor Lake schedule. It will be an interesting battle.

On monitors. Yes. Like speakers in an audiophile system, monitors are the last in a string of components to hit your senses and I always put emphasis on this. Although, any component in the string can can mess up the final result. Monitors are most important in graphics and development. I use a 49" curved monitor. It is designed for graphics, not games as I'm not interested in games that train mass killers. For my use, I need to display numerous windows at once. Try that on a laptop.

    34 HUAWEI MateView GT ZQE-CBA ( 600 $ )

For my workstation I use a triple monitor setup (27 inch 1440p, IPS, 144 Hz refresh rate), i7-5960X, 64 GB DDR3, GTX1080Ti. For my gaming, I use a curved Alienware 38 inch monitor, Ryzen 5950X, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, RTX 3090.

Philips 499p9h. The screen is made by Samsung. Few months ago after three years of use, it started acting up. Philips sent me another. Then it started acting up, they sent me a third. For a while, I had two 49" curved monitors running in a large curve, 10240 x 1440 resolution.

5950X is now selling way below MSRP due to competition and lower demand. 3090 prices have also dropped considerably due to Chinese crypto-miners dumping large quantities and the crypto market. Also, there are now crypto specific chips with far better price/performance.

The Samsung G7 also suffers from dead pixels, but it is unrivaled. You need to choose carefully in the store.

The 5900x and 3080ti also dropped in price, respectively. But the price-quality formula has not changed.

Yeah, I believe that benchmark was run by Toppc, who's an overclocker.

We have come a long long way from the days of CGA monitors (320x200) 4 colors and PC's that took 5 minutes to boot up.

I had pool (billiards) game running on an original IBM PC and it took like 2 minutes between shots.
