Also, as Canada has its fair share of ice and snow are there any ice sculptures on public display?

Please also include any general information on Blackjack and the current Covid-19 situation.

Feel free to PM me if you wish.

    Any information is appreciated.

    Thanks.
How long are you staying. Are you planning to stay within a geographic area or travel the country. You mention fall foliage. Mid to late September is great for that though you might get caught in a storm. You’ll likely land either at Vancouver or Toronto.

If you have lots of time and lots of money, consider an August trip - land at Toronto and go to Halifax. Spend some time in the Maritimes. Make sure you get to Cape Breton. The Cape Breton twng is interesting.

Link is for the Rankin Family from Cape Breton. Interesting voice inflection and hope all enjoy this song as much as I do. The smallest Canadian province is Prince Edward Island. An absolute must for scenery, slow lifestyle and if course - Anne of Green Gables - the rest if the maritimes are really quite pretty.

The francais of Quebec can be a challenge. Quebec City for it’s rich history is amazing. You’ll be continuing on likely through Montreal. It can still be humid that time of year. Unbecoming Cuty us also the site if the famous 1759 Plains of Abraham battle between the British General Wolfe and French General Montcalm ended in a British victory and the death of both Wolfe and Montcalm. Feel free to let loose a fuddle duddle while in Quebec.

Southern Ontario is georgeous that time of year with lots and lots to see. Niagara Falls is amazing where you must ride the “Maid of the Mist. Heading up to Toronto and beyond gets you into cottage country. Though the US route is shorter, the Canadian route through northern Ontario is spectacular. It’s been 45 years since I was in the armpit of Ontario - Thunder Bay. Lakehead University and their unique field house was where I spent a few days in 1971 at the Canadian Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships.

Still following the Trans Canada Hwy, you'll go through the scenic Kenora area until you get to the boring endless flatland prairies. Endless driving getting into Saskatchewan and the majesty and enormity of endless wheat fields. Finally getting into oil country, you’ll follow the Trans Canada to Calgary - A city rich in diversity, culture and industry - there is much to do.

You have 2 unbelievable spectacular world class routes from Calgary to Vancouver. The Trans Canada continues into Banff, which is anazing itself through the kootenays to Radium and Fairmont. Mountain hot springs are a must especially considering their medicinal properties. Continuing on, you’ll arrive in Kamloops after which you will prefer getting if the Trans Canada, preferring to go on the unbelievably scenic Coqahalla Highway. Carved out the mountains, the drive us among the most beautiful in the world. You’ll end up back on the Trans Canada right before Vancouver.

The second route is through the Crowsnest Pass going through the Southern kootenays, Cranbrook, Creston and the beautiful Sicamous area. Again, a world class spectacular drive with georgeous scenery.

No Canada trip is complete without a ferry ride to Vancouver island. The World famous Buchart Gardens and of course, high tea at the Fairmont Empress are a must. From Victoria to Ucaleulet and Tofino is is an excellent highway. Bypassing Nanaimo, you will continue in what will become narrow winding up and down highway. Obey all traffic signs - the penalty for not may be the rest of your life. Comeback and spend some time in Nanaimo - have lunch on the water. Save Northern Vancouver for another time returning to Vancouver from Nanaimo by ferry. It’s only a hop skip and jump to Vancouver international airport.

A beautiful holiday though your loss of weight us sims,y due to a lighter wallet.

    Blackjack conditions by PM only.

Thanks Freighter for the comprehensive advice. It's that sort of local knowledge that I would not be able to get from an Australian travel agency unless they were very familiar with the area.

I have already been to Niagara Falls, CNN Tower, Toronto, Ottawa, etc, and have been advised that the drive from Toronto to Halifax including PEI and Nova Scotia is one of the best areas to see and you mentioned that first. So that would be one trip. Another would be the western side based in Vancouver which would include the world famous Butchart Gardens. The scenery from Calgary to Vancouver will also be included at some stage but that may be a third trip.

I've read the Covid-19 situation is worse in Canada than Australia so I'll also have to take that into account. I may have to limit my Canadian casino visits in order to maintain domestic bliss but I will PM you for a summary.

I actually was suggesting flying to Halifax from Toronto to save on the significant driving mileage involved if on a very long trip. So, if you were to bypass Quebec, then flying to Halifax, renting a car and staying within the Maritimes has tremendous charm on its own - or Intario, Quebec and the Maritimes. Depending on time, Fraser Valley Lower Mainland (includes Vancouver) has much to see with winter world class winter skiing at Whistler a couple of hours away. Ferry to Victoria - a beautiful and charming city. Butchart, 20 minutes away changes with the seasons. Regardless of time of year, it’s beautiful and is also considered a World Heritage Site. Right time of year, the annual bathtub races in Nanaimo are quite enjoyable.

You don’t need to drive all the way to Alberta. You can see spectacular country from either one of two routes from Vancouver to the Kootenays in Eastern British Columbia.

Covid is pretty easy here right now, so it’s simply a matter of checking international flights and I think those are pretty relaxed right now.

Ok, understand. You mentioned a lot of driving in your first reply but looking at the map, Toronto to Halifax is around 1700km by road so what you suggest makes sense. Direct international flights from Australian cities to Toronto are not available so at least one changeover is required. Canadians drive on the right side of the road which I am not use to but I have done it before in the US on an international drivers licence.

In some parts of the country the signage is in both English and French and when I was there most people spoke both languages. In fact, in some parts (I think around Quebec or Montreal) I found it was almost an insult if you didn't at least try to speak French so I managed to remember enough from school to at least get by but I'm not fluent.

Interesting that you mention wrestling. I used to follow several American powerlifters and also Canadian wrestler Doug Hepburn. He's dead now but was quite well known in his day.

First, link below is invaluable. You can determine distance between cities, within cities, landmarks such as building names (not in all cases), addresses. I no longer take multi city trips, but I did use this to determine best routes for blackjack trips, or driving vacations. Keep in mind that gas prices and car rental prices are high, so that should be in your budget.

If you can’t fly direct to Toronto, that means your sole airport of arrival is YVR (Vancouver International). If the east is your desired destination action, YVR direct to YYZ, YUL, and possibly YHZ - respectively Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.

If you drive thru the Maritimes, make a stop at Magnetic Hill. Cool place.

Did you know all the Canadian airport codes start with the letter Y?
And the band Rush is from Toronto, hence their song titled YYZ.

I'll add that to the list. The airport codes are new to me as I've always entered Canada by road from the US. Canadian customs were quite strict too.

Freighter - can't PM you via this forum so I assume that you are no longer a subscriber. Do you have a throw away email?

The second most bilingual Province in the country is New Brunswick, which houses Magnetic Hill. The optical illusion created by this attraction might suggest credence to that phrase - The hurrier I am the behinder I get. And now, the revelation of Freightman outing himself - The airport code of the city I live in starts with - Y.

One last point on a Maritime vacation - Think Bed and Breakfast. The suggestion is most pronounced for PEI - that so small Province with so much to see.

Like anything else, customs entrance regulations are the same. However, enforcement changes from place to place. PAC Hwy (one of many cross over spots between British Columbia and Washington State is reputed to be one if the worst.
