Poll: Reduced play due to Covid

Something I've been curious about. How many total months, consecutively or not, has your casino play been significantly or totally reduced due to the pandemic?

For the first wave casinos were closed.

After they reopened, area casino conditions were no longer favorable - lower limit tables where changed to 6:5, medium table limits ($50) were converted to H17 and 8 decks while 6 deck, 3:2, S17 tables were raised to min $100 or $200. It appears that casino management are hell bent on regaining loss revenue as quickly as possible (1 to 2 years) by doubling or even tripling the previous house edge. Many table areas were converted to video games for blackjack, craps and roulette.

Slowly getting back into playing but forced to travel to find favorable games.

I haven't played at all since the beginning of the pandemic, haven't been in a casino, a restaurant, on any flights or public transit, or too much of anywhere in public for that matter. Fuckity fuck no. I haven't caught it and will take any precautions to continue that trend. Amazon drops shit off at the main gate, groceries delivered to the main gate, no one goes past the main gate.

COVID had the effect of inducing me to get involved with online poker. Now I don't have to worry about being both cheated and barred.

Pretty much given up brick and mortar casino play since the covid got going. I made one several day trip in March 2020 when covid was just getting going, then I didn't go to the casino again until May 2021 after I had my covid shots. Covid was on the decline at that time, but started up again in the summer of 2021 so I gave up brick and mortar casinos and haven't been in one since.

It was in 2021 that MI legalized online gambling and the online casinos offered some great promotions. So I could get my blackjack fix by staying home and just sitting in front of my computer. Now it's 2022, and those great promotions have mostly gone away. Out of the 3 casino promotions I received for the Memorial Day weekend only 2 were positive expected value. However, I'm still playing a lot of blackjack and Spanish 21, but it's all online. So far for the month of May 2022 I have played 43 times. For the month of May I'm $1,560 ahead as of right now, but still a couple of days to go, and all the promotions haven't been completed yet.

i've yet to encounter a 6/5 Spanish game while they seem to be prevalent in the standard BJ arena. This condition would unilaterally give a player a strong incentive to ditch Blackjack altogether.

We know the real reason. The snow is still blocking your front door.

While BJ is in the public domain, Sp21 is owned by a company and patented/copyrighted. So, casinos can't change the rules unless the game owner offers other variations on the game.

Well I did find a CA native store that offered DD Sp21. Unaware if that's still the case. Then there's Players Edge SP21 where 5-1 odds is paid out on the insurance bet if the dealer's natural is suited. Those two variables were not components of the original copyright, I believe. So it seems casinos do indeed have some latitude involving some of the rule sets.

I went out Friday night before Memorial Day. The casino was empty!
