    Why are casinos stupid?

I read a post about an profitable option that a casino offered and I was shocked that they forgot to do the math on this option. But then I thought about it a little more, and a reasonable business person (but not a typical casino) would offer this option.

The option is surrender on split Aces. Profitable if you surrender soft 16 or less to 8 thru Ace. But the EV of this option is a penny per $100, when you consider only 1in169 hands is a pair of Aces, the advantage is only a few Pennies per dollar, and it will only happen less than a quarter of the time AFTER you get the pair of Aces.

But as a business person, how many gamblers would be attracted by this option? How many ploppies would play it wrong? How many wannabe APs would would come and blow their bankrolls, or just plain play wrong? Maybe offer this option only at 6:5 tables? Offering this option will make a million dollars for the reasonable business person.

But not a typical casino. They just play Hardball and would never offer it in the first place. Hence my SHOCK!

Are you sure your math is correct? I know in Spanish 21, you should also surrender your hard 17 to a dealer’s ace upcard.

Also, do you really mean “the EV of this option is a penny per $100.” This is tiny 0.01%, almost nothing.

No I’m not sure if my math is correct. That’s not the point. The point is, “Why are casinos stupid?”.

It's also basic strategy when the dealer hits A,6 on a H17 blackjack multi-deck game.

Seriously?? The lowest form of life, just below the slug, is a casino manager. Don't even get me started.
