    Snother AP at your table

What do you do when you spot an AP at your table?

It has never happened to me. Perhaps they spotted me first and just left. I don’t know. I usually play low limit tables, that, unfortunately, are often crowded (2-3 other players), so maybe APs avoid my tables.

My plan is to ignore the fact they are playing like an AP, and play perfectly. And not leave.

Is there an unwritten rule to leave if they were there first? Do you both just play anyway? Do you play “chicken” and see who leaves first? Do you politely take turns in high counts? Does it depend - if so, depends on what?

An unwritten rule: First one to the table gets to keep the place in a play all situation, otherwise, you will be both moving your bets together.
It also has to do a lot with the "type" of advantage you are using. For example, a back counter will lower your edge stealing the good cards: https://www.blackjackincolor.com/othereffects1.htm
I guess the same would be true for a Wonging out player.
A tracker cutting slugs of rich cards to the top may also weaken your game by a little: https://www.blackjackincolor.com/Shuffletracking3.htm

There used to be, until Colin unleashed his cultists on the casinos. Based on what I've seen, they follow the slash and burn, fuck everyone else style of play.

Several months ago I asked one of Colin's disciples who sat next to me if he knew who James Grosjean was. He said no. I suggested he google him and find his blog. This was shortly after Grosjean addressed this very issue in his writings. Fortunately, he was backed off in short order for his 1x25-2x1000 spreads and I continued playing.

Im reasonably certain that LV Bear mentioned that same modest spread at single deck. As I believe he said - single deck is a different animal. Just before Covid, I was playing heads up - unknown to me was a back counter waiting for the juicy counts. An hour later, I got a text from another counter in a 3rd party city indicating that the shithead wanted to meet me. We met that same time - I chewed him out.

True, but from the stories I heard, Mr. Bear used an Emmy-winning drunk degen act. This guy was the typical 25 year old counter who looked the part and played like a robot. Only thing missing was the MIT sweatshirt.

You might need to be wary of being (mistakenly) associated with someone like that if playing at the same table as them. I'd be thinking about leaving.

I agree. The minute I know there's another counter at the table, if he doesn't leave, I do. Orchestrating your bets in unison is one of the stupider things you can do. (See BJA3, bottom of page 5, top of page 6.)
