    Skipping bets

Hello! New here and new to the world of blackjack!
Just wondering if most AP's Skip bets when running -1tc when playing at a Multi-player table, say first 10-20% of a 8 deck shoe? Can't seem to find any info on this

If stopping to move to another table or leave for the day due to negative count - that’s called wonging out and is acceptable strategy. If in and out of a shoe selectively based on count - that’s poor form, pisses off the other players and is a flag for the pit and surveillance.

If you want out of the shoe but want to retain the spot - go for a leak or answer your phone. I used to have this fake phone app - press a button and phone was set to ring in 10 seconds.

I'm restless and impatient by nature, so I rarely sit still for more than an hour (I'll stay at the same table but take breaks) but in my counting days I would be way more likely to take a break if we're midway through a shoe and the TC is -4 (or worse).

I would also usually play at a $5 table but my starting bet was $10 or $15, meaning I could go down when the count was bad. (I was obviously not trying to make big bucks, and based on what I know now that wasn't a good strategy.)

Why wasn’t it a good strategy? You’re playing at a low heat $5-$200 table with $10 off the top. You’ve got a playable cut (per your prior comments) with a 1-10 or 1-12 ramp ($10-$120, all of a sudden becoming $5-$120) , theoretically optimal, with only a very modest decrease in SCORE, you play all and don’t have to drive across town to find another table.

Further, they’re some side bets which pay off more at extreme (both) positive and negative counts, and in the case of negative can be used to subsidize.

I play all, all of the time - utilizing numerous strategies - and I have absolutely no complaints.

I was told by one of the shift managers where I work that a bet spread of 12 or more is what will get their attention. At both places I've been backed off, it only happened when I moved my range from $5-$50 to $5-$75. If he was right, then the better strategy would have been to play $5-$50 or $10-$100.
