    True Count Distribution

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is the distribution of true counts for an 8 deck shoe with 1.5 decks cutoff? (Play all hands)

Is there a way to refine this distribution based on my walk away point - I am thinking TC -2

Actually, the real point of my question is to determine my walk away point, but I would definitely like to start with the “play all” expected value.

You can do calculations as shown in Peter Griffin’s Theory of Blackjack, 6th edition, or do a CVCX sim and look at the output.

It seems you mentioned Peter Griffin book a lot. I did read one chapter of this book to understand PE, play efficiency, but still I am in dark about the basics.. Moreover, many blackjack gurus have posted here a couple of months ago saying Peter’s theory is already too outdated for today’s blackjack games. I trust this forum.

The book concentrated on different games than those common these days. But, there is nothing outdated about the theories.

People keep asking, how do I do this or that calculation. Many times, it is already explained in ToBJ. It’s a tough read, and I had to re-read some chapters several times, annotating along the way, and doing practice calculations.

All answers can be found in BJA3 or by using CVCX.

Thanks, Don. After my ex-wife emptied my home before she left me, my copy of BJA mysteriously disappeared!

I just ordered a new one and it should arrive soon. Looking forward to re-reading a most excellent book.
