I took a few minutes off from chatting with those friendly people who call me every five minutes to steal my credit card -- to look out the window. Very little snow. There was a fire boat in the river next to the UN spraying water in every direction. Then, the water plumes turned bright blue. This was followed by a string of police boats. No idea what was going on. Walked to the grocer’s and saw police guiding people away from the UN. Then remembered the Security Council is in session. In the last three months I’ve seen two Coast Guard cutters out there. Never seen that before.

He saw his shadow because there were a bunch of television cameras and their spotlights all over him.

Was the river on fire? I thought that only happened in Cleveland.

The first accumulating snowfall of the season occurred over portions of South Dakota and Minnesota last evening through early Thursday morning. A majority of the snow fell along and south of line from Pierre to Watertown to Ortonville.

Well, the Keweenaw Peninsula in the U.P. just went over 200 inches of snowfall for the year. I just got my bill for having my roof shoveled and it was the most expensive bill I ever had for shoveling the roof. The guys only worked 3 hours each, but took 2 breaks which they added to the tab plus they billed me for transportation. Now I have to call the end loader guy to make more room for the snow.

This year marks 100 years of MTU'S Winter Carnival, and its going on right now. I'm sure 21forme is jealous of never getting a chance to hang an all-nighter building a snow statue.

Do any of your online casino promos have an over/under bet for snowfall?

Oh Yes! There are several contests based on the weather and its not too late for you to enter.

The MTU snow contest has several contests. One based on monthly snow and also a yearly snow contest. Here is a hint. The MTU contest is based on Houghton County snow which is much less than Keweenaw county.

21forme, if you don't want to play that contest here is you chance to win a $1,000. Just guess when the snowmobile will fall thru the ice and sink.

And finally if you can guess the day the Keweenaw glacier melts you can win a "Think Snow" bumper sticker from John Dee.

Pretty rough winter the last few days. We got so much snow there is no place to put it anymore. The end loader guy came a week ago and made more room, but this last storm almost filled the room up again. Over 26 inches in last two days and getting close to 300 inches for the year.

Well, Come on U.P.! The ice is pretty much at peak thickness right now. Try your luck on Keweenaw Bay and when you are done the Ojibwa casino is only a mile away.

Winter is still sticking around in the U.P. We had a bad ice storm on Tuesday and I couldn't even bring out my garbage. I got it all ready then decided not to risk another fall. Two falls this winter was enough. Notice the ice on the trees. This is not my house.
