is it beatable? can i break even or lower house edge? thanks for any replies.
That depends on what you call beatable. Some bets in Baccarat are countable but limits and low frequency of spotting advantage situations and weak edges make them unappealing. Basically "beatable" but not worth it. There may be some plays I don't know about but that was my assessment when I analyzed things a few years ago.
Statement: For all or most casino games, the casino either wins more bets or takes a cut of the winning bets. Taking a cut of the winning bets is like losing when you win.
In Baccarat the casino takes a cut of the winning bets when you bet on Banker by charging you a 5% commission. One thing I would do is increase your comps and perks in order to overcome the 5% commission. Second is used edge sorting to determine whether the face down card is low or high by observing and taking advantage of unintentional patterns on the back of some cards used in Baccarat. Third, I would exploit Baccarat side bets by side counting it.
Yes, but unless you had an inside deal with the manufacturer to make specific cards have specific patterns you will not be able to exploit the fact that some cards's back are different from others. In the case of Phil Ivey, he had a deal with the casino to keep using the same cards. The casino obliged because he was playing high stakes.
Wow. I'm going to hurt some feelings here. But it's because I care about, and like helping new people.
In this thread, I first say "you can beat it, but it shouldn't be discussed"
Then, people come along and tell the move.
Then they come along and tell the SPECIFIC VULNERABILITY! And even better, they give PROCEDURES to stop the play!
The best part? It's ON THE PUBLIC FORUM!
And we wonder why games get killed, and we wonder why few top pros post on public forums.
The Cash Cow.
1. Public info =/= well-known by all casino employees
2. Knowing the move is valuable, but exposes the game to some risk
3. Knowing the vulnerability is valuable, but exposes the game to a lot of risk
4. Knowing the protection procedures offers us no value, and exposes the game to extreme risk.
You're literally giving them the playbook (questionable), and how they can beat the play (incredibly, unbelievably foolish)!
