    Calculating N0

    I'm trying to calculate the N0 for some other plays, and I'm getting strangely low numbers. Checking my calculation against CVCX, I'm getting a number precisely a factor of 100 smaller.

    N0 = (SD^2)/(EV^2)

    For this example spread: N0(custom) = (359.88^2)/(31.46^2) = 130.86, not 13,087.
    What's going on here? Where's the factor of 100 coming from?

    Guess you missed this recent discussion. But, in any event, use the per-hand values, not the hourly ones, to calculate N0 (or SCORE, for that matter).

    Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like that would give you the numbers of rounds you'd need to play.

    But in a case like that one, where you're regularly wonging, the number of rounds isn't consistent, per hour. And if you aren't playing every hand, the SD/100 hands seen changes at a different rate than the EV/100 hands seen.

    Would my "modified" N0 formula not give the numbers of hours of play/observation needed to cross 1 SD from breakeven? (assuming 100 hands/hr)

    Yes. N0 is typically expressed as the number of rounds and yes, that is why your calculation of N0 is lower by a factor of 100. You have rounds per hour set at 100.
