    Novice looking to advance...

I've been playing daily at my local casino for the past two months now. Counting cards again after a long hiatus.

    I'm using Hi-Lo with the I-18, +4 other indexes, + 5 surrender indexes.
I have access to a 6 Deck shoe game and can manage to estimate in half deck increments.

At this point RC/TC are not quite second nature...it requires some effort/concentration, but it is in no way strenuous.

From the research I've done, it seems that mastering Hi-Opt II w/ASC, full indexes would be the optimal long term goal.

    This involves:

    1. Learning to estimate within 1/4 deck
    2. Learning to ASC
    3. Mastering the Hi-Opt II count
    4. Mastering the Hi-Opt II indexes

Any feedback from the community would be appreciated about the worthiness/practicality of this goal; as well as advice on how best to tackle the learning process step by step.

I can also see value in keeping things simple: aiming to get to the point where it requires no effort whatsoever and then just working on cover.. From other things I've mastered in life, I know that within another few months, I'll be counting/deviating with my current method at a subconscious level with zero effort.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Cheers.

It seems to me you are already very advanced. Why not move to America so that we can collaborate? I feel this is a short lived career but we need to gamble big in a very short time. If you are not gambling real things, you are not learning.

Lol. Very true Aceside. Maybe better in USA. But in this forum...no. I am certainly not advanced. Maybe I have improved from a white to yellow belt in card counting. But we are in the presence of several 8th degree black belt grand masters.

My 20 cent minimum/$4.00 maximum tables are really just fake play money.
But I am stuck here for the meantime. Making the best of my cheap, real environment to hone my skills.

Casinos are only that many, and they will figure out who these APs are sooner or later. Facial recognition has made this business even harder. This is not easy.

Folks have been saying that AP is dead for decades. There are APs that played a quarter century ago who are still playing high stakes and making money.

Can you mention which surrender indexes you are using, as I want to see if you are counting the basic strategy surrender plays in the five that you use.

Sorry I am not familiar with that game. I was thinking late surrender.

Against dealer A - surrender on their solid 5,6,7 and 12,13,14,15,16,17 (including on pairs). Its basic strategy.
    6 v A surrender above -2
    7 v A surrender above -3
