    Spread for Comps?

Ploppies change their bets all the time. APs do not. I want her to think I change my bets all the time, just like a ploppy. I use a Players Card. I have never been backed off. So I make sure the pit boss rates me for a modest spread (usually 1 unit, to two hands at 2 units). Can I push this to a bigger spread?

I am never the biggest better at the table. Rarely the biggest spreader. Usually, the pit boss has a “why is this guy bothering me AGAIN?!” attitude when he talks to me. (Hehehehe!!). I usually ask if I have earned a free room yet, and they always say “no”.

Right. And ploppies lose. Difficult to maintain an edge if you keep deviating from optimal betting.

As Nancy Reagan would say, "just say no!" Play unrated and save your persona for opportunities that matter. If playing low then comps are not worth much. If playing higher and have the bank then some comps have an actual cash value that you may find worthwhile. YMMV but i wouldnt consider as getting backed off of a $60/hour or whatever count game you are playing and losing out on a 4 or 5 figure future promo or other opportunity isnt worth it. I had an AP friend who had maybe a 200-300/hr BJ game and eventually got backed off and trespassed playing rated. He was also a poker player and kept coming back to this joint for a year or so after the 21 trespass. Ended up winning a 5-figure bad beat jackpot at poker - well guess who didn't get paid on the jackpot and that was after paying an attorney to pursue.
