Heading to Vegas thru Oklahoma and NM.

Vaccinations completed, now thinking of a road trip to Vegas. Likely route might lead me through Oklahoma on I-44 and through NM on I-40. How do I find out days without Ante in Oklahoma so I could stop over in casinos there? Suggestions for NM casinos of I-40. I have never played in NM.

I've never been to OK. Was in NM maybe 7-8 years ago. As I recall conditions at Sandia and Isleta (both near I-40 in ABQ) were mediocre with crowded tables. Also played Rt 66 casino, a little west of downtown ABQ right off I-40 and they had a 3 deck game at the time which was decent.

Be aware that I40 is famous for crooked cops confiscating cash (civil forfeiture). I know you don't carry a big BR, but that flashy Covette may be a target for them.

probably going to have to contact each casino to find out which days are ante free. My understanding is, you must join the players club to qualify.

Zee, if going to Vegas by Interstate 40 when you get to Kingman take highway 68 over to Laughlin. It is pretty much right on the route not much out of the way. Very cheap hotel rooms and easy comps. Nice place to visit especially if you never been there. Then take 95 up to Vegas.

You guys might think again. Around 70% of coronavirus patients tested at a Tokyo hospital last month carried a mutation known for reducing vaccine protection, Japanese public broadcaster NHK said on Sunday. Six major Japanese cities are declared emergency as hospitals are rushed with patients with this new strain. Also this called E484K mutation has been found in Arizona and Florida the past week. My bet is that Tokyo Olympics will be delayed again or just cancelled. If it is found in Arizona, it could be easily found in Nevada. Again, Japanese researchers said the vaccine has reduced effect (or little or even no effect according to some other researchers) on such E484K mutation.

I listed the Reuters link but more articles can be found using keyword E484K on Google:

Something came up so now my plans are to drive to San Francisco starting out of the St. Louis area, to Moab, UT and then hitting a few National Parks ending up in Las Vegas for 2-3 days, then heading to San Francisco. Leaving around the 20th.

However, I am planning a 4-5 day trip to drive the Dragons Tail and be near the North Carolina/Tennessee border. There seem to be a casino or two there and I wonder if anyone has experience with NC casinos.

Sounds like this went from a BJ trip to a family trip. From what I am reading, the National Parks are going to be packed this year.
There are 2 Harrahs Casinos, Harrahs Cherokee and Harrahs Cherokee Valley River. Both casinos only have 6 deck H17. Valley River MAY have a $15 table but only pays 6:5. Everything else is $25 or more. From BJA. Have a safe trip

If the Moab Nat'l parks are packed, a good alternative might be Dead Horse Point State Park in the Moab area.

It's where the final scene from Thelma and Louise was filmed:

Well, I am still going solo but there is some family gathering in San Francisco and a couple of cousins, now in their 80’s, I may never see again so decided to go there. Also see parks that Zi haven’t seen. Moreover, not having stepped in a casino in over a year, there is a lack of confidence and some concern about the conditions (Corona) so, less BJ than planned.

The other short trip is just to take my new car, a used corvette, for a drive through the tail of the dragon and a couple of nights in the smokies before the school year is over and crowds get there.

Thanks. Actually, I am doing these trips before schools get out and summer crowds show up.
