Thread: Any Lasting Negatives From Getting Comp Rooms and Stiffing?

I can understand the astonishment, as indeed marketing staff has been instructed to never reveal this accounting practise. They reason why casinos do it, is that some patrons require very few comps to be satisfied, so by not showing them openly what they are entitled to, casinos can save money.

Living in a gambling city for 18 years, I know all about it. Staff knows that I know, so I openly ask them about their (marketing) system.

One simply needs to keep in mind that what is offered as for free, may not always be for free

i got massively overcomped at a casino in AC where i got 400 in slot dollars or gift cards 3-4 times a week (and once 5) for 3 months. I think pit boss entered an extra 0 on my average bet .During the third month I saw the offer went from 400 a shot to either 25 or 50 the following month which was maybe a week away. One day i go to swipe my card and it won't work. I go to promotions and they tell me my overs have been revoked for low playing them. I play dumb and say oh that must be from last trip where I go really sick. They unfroze my account and told me if i happened again that was it. I didn't care because I just needed to get the money a few more times before the offers tanked which I did. I played there once about a year later to see if I could somehow trigger a repeat and i can't even access my comp account online .

I find it funny that many properties still send me RFB etc. without me setting foot in them in years. My better half actually gets more than me.

I just noticed that ever since Covid hit, the number of posts that end up with grammar lessons have increased, lol.

And this one wasn't even grammar. It was simply my fingers moving faster than my brain and failing to proofread.

Comps are nice, but if you're going to be playing serious you'll need to effectively rathole as they track every single session. Once you hit a certain lifetime win they'll show you the door.

Craven, I've been wondering a lot about that recently. Have you had personal experience with that?

My opinion. I agree with Craven. Comps are for early careers in the AP community.

As per usual, you’ve missed the point. Comes early in career will DAMAGE you later in career. Think about it.
