Any Lasting Negatives From Getting Comp Rooms and Stiffing?

    Hi all

So I have a few casinos where I get comps/freeplay etc. to subsidize my travel costs. I'll make one big play and see what offers they send, then keep using the offers until they dry up.

I'm wondering- are there any lasting negatives to this strategy on those cards?

For example, one place I stayed about 6 weeks in total last year, and the offers finally dried up. I didn't completely stiff them (would hustle some slots on the card while staying there) but no big table games play.

My question- would they mark my card as a 'stiffer' and never send more comps regardless of my play? Or am I able to go back, make a big play, and get on the gravy train again?

Anyone ever get backed off from comp hustling too hard?

I don't count on these comp players cards, obviously.

    Thanks

    Disco Stu

I haven't been backed off, but I've been no mailed.

Biggest one was CET and goes back a number of years. Without going into too much detail, I played a slot machine and registered a very large loss created by card pulling during the +EV bonus rounds. This technique no longer works, as CET caught on after losing millions. They gave me a "Hangover" suite (tiger not included) and monthly free play in the thousands. Besides playing the free play, I did play some -EV slots to keep the offers coming, but apparently not enough. After about 3 months, the host called me to tell me they were withdrawing the offers (including one already booked). After some yelling and screaming that I had already bought a plane ticket for the next trip (that they pulled the rug on), they reimbursed my airfare. It just so happens it was Southwest, so I got credit to use the flight funds at a later date.

Bottom line, Casinos do look at their comps vs. your play and will pull offers at some point if they think they aren't making money from you.

I had one chain move me up and down, from bronze to silver to gold, to platinum and back down to basic for a while when I stopped frequenting their casinos in Tunica and south, stopped spending time on the strip in Las Vegas. Played them some more and they raised their level and comps.

    21forme- Wow!

Only once have I been called to have an offer revoked- a BJ tourney invite at the pirate ship a few years ago. Of course I had been backed off for counting on that card the trip before. Funny call from marketing guy 'well, we really don't like your betting patterns on blackjack. You can come and play our other games and get rated on those if you still would like to try to get this offer.'

That would suck to have those comps pulled back after you're already booked. My other offers have only dried up.

Did you ever try making another comp play there to get mailers on the same card?

Zee- I guess you didn't hit em hard enough for them to completely black list you. I think that's my current status with my comp places as well.

No. Interestingly, the no mail only applied to Vegas. I still got offers from other parts of the county.

My opinion. I agree with Craven. Comps are for early careers in the AP community.

As per usual, you’ve missed the point. Comes early in career will DAMAGE you later in career. Think about it.
