Seems unlikely. NYC has always been against the idea. But, they are talking about converting a million square feet of commercial space into condos. Commercial market is in bad shape.

There are a couple problems. First, upstate NY has had a poor economy for some time. Casinos were opened to help that part of the state, although I don't know that it has helped. A NYC casino would harm upstate and the legislature wouldn't want to vote for that. The other is that NYC residents simply don't want a casino in the city. Queens residents are heavily opposed to table games at Resorts. Of course, the need for funds could see some change in voter attitude.

Are you guys all living in NYC? Or New York state? As far as I know, most of these casinos in New York are striving to survive. Some of them may file bankruptcy if Covid stays any longer. But I am sure they will become super rich in the future because people are greedy.

As an APer i am all for casino expansion - more outs and dilutes the casino mgmt/surveillance talent pool. As a citizen i dont think the proliferation of casinos is good for the public - especially when they are located in densely populated cities. Seems to be like a hidden tax on those who can least afford to gamble. WRT to NYC i would expect to see if approved in the near (say 1-3 yr timeframe) since politicians are going to need to find revenue somewhere and recent policies havent exactly encouraged other types of businesses to relocate (or even stay) in the big apple.
