    Hitting Hard 17 and Heat

    Hey guys!

Hitting Hard 17 is at times the better play, especially at double deck.
It raises eyebrows every time from both players and dealer and I wonder if it's worth it
considering the attention it gets even if a minimum bet should be on the table at that time.

I have seen twice the dealer yelling to the pit boss "HIT SEVENTEEN!" and that was at 6-deck.
I suspect Tarzan has the system to use it most often, unless he considers it's not worth the attention.

What's your casino experience with this move?

This means the count is heavily negative which then means you have your minimum bet out so drawing attention is kind of a silly decision as your minimum bet is simply not worth attracting attention.

I would be more concerned if the dealer vociferously announces, "Hitting soft 18!"

Would a large bet be treated differently? While playing at the Sahara, I remember splitting tens versus the dealer 6 at a high count as the pit boss was watching. Eventhough I was only betting two green at each spot that did not save me from getting the tap on the shoulder. Hitting seventeen in a negative count is just an invitation to end your playing career at the casino.

One time I split TT v 5 with $500 up in shoe game and won both. There was no heat afterward so it depends a lot on their perception of your skill level.

ZeeBabar, what is currently wrong with you? The above quote makes no sense at all.

I miss interpreted your first quote where I thought that you were splitting tens and then went on to hit a hard 17 all in the same hand played.

On a not serious note, splitting 10s with a big bet and on the same hand (s), hitting hard 17s would be such
a confusing move for the casino. That would be ultimate camouflage.
On the other hand, splitting tens on a very negative count and hitting hard 17 on the same hand (s) would also be very confusing.
Definitely a less costly camouflage bet although it would certainly get attention.

On the same note, the player might as well go all the way after splitting tens as each ten receives a seven and you double both hands for less. The casino will never bother you again for the rest of your life.

Good one, Bosox! The pit boss will start asking you why you are not splitting your 10’s each time you get them, lol.
