    Preserving a local

Calling all experienced APs for some advice. I was at a local today plugging away as a good card counter should when all of a sudden one of the pits starts staring my action. Now, I'm used to this game of chicken by now and I played through. About 15 mins later there's now another pit over my shoulder in addition to the first guy. I recognize this second guy from an earlier session last week. Now I'm a little sus at this point with two pits staring my action, but I've been backed off four times now and every time the pit gets on the phone and looks at me before it comes. So I stay and plug away. 15 minutes go by, pit #2 takes off and pit #1 goes to another table. Sweet, I've proven I'm not a card counter by not chickening out. SIKE! 10 minutes later pit #3 comes out and he's wearing a grey suit instead of the usual black. Now pit #1 comes back and they're both staring my action. This is highly unusual and fearing a ban from a local I decided to take my leave. Grey suit watches as I make my exit.

So, fellow APs, it's polling time. How long should I stay away to become a distant memory? I'm thinking 3 months, but I haven't got a damn clue.

It's really hard to say based on the info provided.
How often do you play there?
How long have you been playing there?
Is this a big casino like LV or AC, or a small casino with only a handful of tables?
    What's you bet spread?

You don't need to (and probably don't want to) answer these, but you get the idea. Generically, I chose 6 months, but you may want to go back in 3 months on another shift and see what happens.

I would go for short sessions on other shifts. Also, remember, you don’t need to stick around till you are even or winning, just walk away losing, a time or two.

See BJA3, page 6, third paragraph. Then you decide!

Thanks for the great advice. Unfortunately now I don't think I'll go back for a year *sigh*. I was spreading 1-8x2 for 3 weeks hours at a time. The only thing I can hope is the Rona mask concealed my face enough I'll get some table time in 2022. Was good while it lasted.

One place I was flat bet at, I waited over 3 years to play again. The first time I discreetly added $10 to my minimum bet, a floor supervisor that I never had seen before turned around and goes "minimum bet only!" The rest of the table was in disbelief at that.

    1. Your preferred game is double deck?
    2. Either, the store is very tolerant, your spread is too subtle , they weren’t convinced of your bankroll strength or they weren’t impressed with your skill level.

Personally, I like being pegged as lousy. They’re strategies for that well beyond actually being lousy.

    1. Yes. It's the lowest ROR/highest hourly for my bankroll.

    2. There's no way to know what they're thinking.

    3. Teach me.

Sounds to me like they went away to roll back the tape and find out if you were counting. Then when they realized you were, the third guy came out to hawk you And I assume back you off
