Day 9 result +$320 in one hour of play through four casinos all across town. Two backoffs. The other two I left just before they did. Getting fliered doesn't make it impossible to play, but a little more difficult.

Day 10: 5 hours of play +155. A little cover went a long way. I got wined and dined by one casino giving me a free filet Oscar at their fancy steakhouse. Playing a less profitable game for comps was fun, but not worth the EV given up.

I'm looking forward to today's play.

    Six-deck shoe games particular

I believe you but really do not understand why it is for six deck shoes. All of my past major losses were in the situations of six deck shoes with an irritating dealer. The dealer collected my cards and chips so quick that I had no time to change my bet amount and this often irritated me. This is particularly true when I played heads up and in old casinos. Can you explain this a little bit more? In double deck and eight deck games, I haven’t experienced these bad situations and therefore haven’t lost very big. Thank you in advance.

    aceside,

This confused me... except after a push, don't you always have to adjust the chips in your betting circle?

I also dress down while playing - its a comfort thing. Pre COVID was dressed up in a suit/tie for my day job so when I played compensated for it by always dressing casual. That said while playing have several pairs of special pants designed to securely and comfortably hold all the tools of APing. When i first started was much younger and thought buying some expensive items would be a good investment for the "high roller" look. Never really pulled the trigger on that approach and havent had too many problems. The only accessory needed to come off as a degen is a roll, during the dot bomb era recall seeing a young guy - coulndt have been more than about 25 spreading 3x10K on the main floor at MGM wearing a t-shirt, bathing suit, and flip flops. Certainly shaped my view on what is needed to fit into the casinos viewpoint of looking the part.

I always played two hands when counts call for it. I have a tendency to collect the pay chips and leave the original bet chip there and then calculate the bet amount for next round. The dealer was so fast that he already dealt the cards for the next round before I had any opportunity to change my bets. Another situation when playing two hands was that one hand lost and the other hand won. In this situation, I collected the pay chips on the win hand while the lose hand was still empty of chips, but the dealer already dealt out card on this win hand before I could even put chips on this losing hand. So two hand was forced to become one hand. I was very irritated by this dealer and lost big on him.

Day 11: Drove around to a few smaller casinos. One had a double deck blackjack table limit of $3-$50. I spent some time there talking to the local dealers and tipped away the majority of my EV ($20ish) since it was her birthday tomorrow and people hadn't played there for the last two days. I should really do some better scouting because I stumbled into a litter of slots only casinos. Last place I played had a $10-$200 limit with an 8 deck and 2 deck table. The double deck didn't open before I called it a night.

Result: -$7 4 hours of play (1hr 45min at the small hole in the wall)

    Day 12: Day of rest.

Day 13 in progress: Walked into a really nice casino and played for about 15 minutes before I noticed the pit call upstairs. Great, I thought, I'm going to get backed off with no play time. 5 minutes later another guy comes into the pit wearing a grey suit. They talk amongst themselves and keep turning toward me watching my bets. A few minutes pass and grey suit comes up to me for the backoff. He says, sir we've been watching your play and want to make sure next time you come here you're comfortable. I'm a host with this casino, do you have a players card? I say no. He says well if you give me your ID I can print one up in two minutes. In my head I'm thinking 50/50 this is a trap, but I've never been backed off like this so I decide to roll with it. He goes to the pit with my ID and they're all staring at it. For sure I just got duped. Nope! He comes back with a players card, gives me his phone number and business card, then says let me know the next time your in town and I'll make sure you comfortable. LOL This is awesome.

This has happened to me and others. First time, I did get a card, got room offers and used them. The second time it happened, I just told them “no, I just moved here and don’t need room comp”, he then said “there are other benefits, we have a great buffet...”. I laughed, said buffets are bad for me at my age, no thanks”, turned around to play my cards, left shortly after.

Hey guys, to those of you following this thread I'm sorry for not posting an update in awhile. I have great news! I found a dream of a casino. They let me spread $10-$200 for hours and put me up in an upgraded room comped. I'm still averaging 4 hours a day, spending a significant portion of the day exercising, eating healthy, and talking with my family and friends. I'm enjoying this journey and am grateful for the variance being nice this time around. Good luck out there.
