    Road trip

Hello everyone. I am a relatively new AP and am going on my first serious trip in mid January. I'm talking one month on the road only leaving a casino when I get backed off. Currently I've been backed off 4 times and have about 100 hours of play. If anyone wants to message me with encouragement or advice it would be appreciated. I'm super excited and in the process of buying a couple different looks ^_^

Four backoffs in only 100 hours of play seems like a lot. How much are you betting?

$25 to 2x200 double deck. One casino that I got two backoffs in is newly remodeled and must have state of the art security measures because I was out in 15 min and 50 min on my first and second trip there respectively. Everywhere else I seem to get decent mileage at.

Relatively new AP, 1st road trip, slash and burn approach, 1 back off per 25 hours of play.

So, what are your stakes, what is your bankroll, what are your anticipated travel expenses, what is your ROR, and being newish, has anyone audited your quality of play. Some guesses - You’re robotic to the count about as subtle as a brick shithouse, have not yet hit a stretch of negative variance.

Further guesses, some level 1 system, which is fine, but likely without a real knowledge of index play. Haven’t run sims, or if so, not calculated travel expense into the equation, a grinder.

What I’m trying to tell you is - be careful. Don’t think you’ve thought this through. Of course, if you’re well funded, seasoned, familiar with effect of house edge on results including variance, sufficient stakes to overcome cost of travel etc etc, just tell me to stuff it.

One last thing - please don’t say you’ll economize by sleeping in your car, showering at truck stops. and eating fast food.

Rules, rules, rules....the 3 most important things after pen, pen, pen.....

DD vs shoe = drastically diff in terms of back offs

    100 hrs is child's play

For this guy, sounds about right. Not blanket for everyone. Depending on factors, house tolerance, ability to manipulate rules VS. pen, and a few other skills which trump your blanket statement.

I'm hoping to gain 300+ more hours on this month long trip to add to my charts. I've stuck around DD with max bet of 2x200, but can only play for 15-30mins at one shop generally before I get their attention. Part of the reason I'm traveling is so I can figure out what not to do without losing my locals.

    Aggressive spread...I like it...

Having an 'act' will help longevity....when you make your moves, try to look the part...A GAMBLER & the $$$l ook - think BMW, Rolex, Cartier & Tom Ford as opposed to Prius, Timex, pocket protector & grianimals...if you catch my drift

    Please keep us posted...GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the sage advice. I just completely overlooked the power of a flashy look. First impressions are everything after all.

Yes, but your 'act' is even more important...dont fret big losses, don't worry what anyone else at table does, just keep firing when time is right...of course, after showing such a spread, win, or lose, you split

That's my current strategy for my locals. I heard on some BJA podcasts it's possible to find casinos that let you play for hours/days/weeks. I'm dead set on figuring that out. Will report the results here.

Well I can see y'all are grizzled vets. I'm definitely factoring in hotel and travel expenses. I have a 28K bankroll max bet is 2x200. Slash and burn approach. I've mainly played double deck for high EV and low N-0. ROR around 2%.

Definitely subtle as a brick shit house. As soon as the count calls for an increased bet I do it. No cover play. I know about 30-40 index plays and working on the rest two at a time.

As far as negative variance in currently in a 128 unit downswing. Worst ever was a little over 200 units when I first started.

I would bet an old $2 that the OP was attracted to Blackjack after watching Inside the Edge!
Go on my friend... I better stop here.
