    Remembrance Day, Veterans Day

I’ve seen no acknowledgement of this important day - Remembrance Day in Canada (and the Commonwealth) and Veterans Day for our American friends south of the 49th.

Many of the older members of this board had Fathers who served in World War 2, the Korean War and other conflicts such as Vietnam and Afghanistan.

The link below refers to the World War 1 poem - in Flanders Fields.

When I was younger it was called Armistice Day and on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month all Australians were and still are encouraged to observe one minutes silence in memory of the war dead. The time and date signifies the end of hostilities of World War 1 but is not a public holiday in this country. ANZAC Day, which is our national day of remembrance, is and commemorations are held on 25th April each year.

In elementary school, we stood for either 1 or 2 minutes of silence at 11.00 AM.

I've seen quite a bit, almost all online. There were many restaurants (mostly large chains offering free meals), stores, offering discounts, free car washes, etc. (I'm in the U.S.), but nothing commensurate with the solemnity of the day.
I didn't see many flags outside homes, although we put ours up.

In Flanders Fields is sobering and appropriate for Remembrance Day/Veterans Day.

Don't forget Iraq in the list of wars.
