Opinions of BJA members only forum and videos

Considering the $250 base membership at BJA. Primarily interested in the forum and members only videos and interviews.

    Soliciting opinions, thanks

Watch my video ~ this expresses everything I think about the product BJA is selling.

Colin is a nice guy, I have tremendous respect for his integrity. But you have to consider what your goal really is before you invest. If you want to be a card counter, then Colin is a solid resource.

Existential doubt goes for the present site as well, and any other BJ site that focuses myopically on card counting. Norm, you know all this, no disrespect intended. But I do wonder about those who spend their lives endlessly explaining the nuances of what is at-best a third-rate system for beating the house.

Eliot, that above video of yours is deceptive to say the least. For example the reasons that you gave for not to become a card counter, I take issue with the #4 example. In that example you talk about a card counter wonging using perfect play and only playing positive counts while betting $100 every positive count. You showed a winning percentage for the six deck game of H17, DOA,DAS as $33.58 per hundred hands played, and $66.29 when playing a double deck game with the same rules that the six deck game had, also including betting $100 on all positive counts and nothing on everything else, to which I consider the entire example stupid, and extremely deceptive to say the least. What do you think your numbers would be if the same wonger used a 1 to 4 spread instead "while still betting in only all positive counts". You deliberately made your own obvious biased opinion to make the numbers look bad.

A person makes a higher income by betting their maximum bet in every count where they have the edge. Using a ramp decreases their win-rate. The point of a ramp is risk management. But if you are going for sheer profit as an upper limit on what's attainable, nothing beats max bet every time you have the edge.

You got me on this one as I have yet to meet anyone willing to bet their own max bet on any positive true count. I suppose this situation could be found in a large banked team play who is unconcerned with risk. A rare situation indeed. I still think that the example that you gave is stupid, and confusing considering the market of newer players you were trying to reach in the video.

Maximizing EV with this approach, though theoretically correct, could conceivably challenge even the most solid of rolls. The variance rollercoaster would stress most players.

Best to be left for those with infinite bankrolls.

You both miss the obvious situation where this is done, and I've seen it done. Some venues have low maxess, anywhere from $100-300. Or even lower. I recall seeing a casino in S. America where the max was the equivalent of about $40. In those cases, it's not far-fetched at all.

Been there done that. Referring obviously to the min $10 max $10000 scenario where your bets are either $10 or $10000, nothing in between. Are you prepared to play that scenario? Doubt it. I wouldn’t either.

I do agree with you, Eliot, on the math on this. But the volatility would be more than most can handle. There would have to be some proviso's here for most. Bet size in relation to bankroll would have to be defined would it not?

While Yes, there are other AP plays but really, this board is mostly aimed at BJ. Would you truly opine that most AP plays are related to Blackjack only? Without disclosing those methods in detail specifically, maybe some illumination or description would be appropriate.

I know.....I know ............this thread has gone immediately off topic like Don complains about but it is STILL a very good thread!!!!

No offense, but you can't be serious, can you? I thought it would be common knowledge that the Kelly Criterion is the EV maximizing strategy.
