    Casino Promotion Scams? :/

I am getting "Text Promotions," from "Gulfstream Park Casino, ". First one was claiming on Wednesday night that I had won 500(Didn't specify whether it was $500 or $5.00 in free play which was the first red flag) for a Hot Seat Giveaway for visiting recently. The Hot Seat Promotion had happened on Sunday when I visited but the Hot seat Promotion was from 12-6 and at 12-6 I had been working, so obviously didn't qualify for the Promotion. The second red flag was the fact that the window was way too short. Gave me the "Free play Promotion Text," at around 9 PM when I was already in bed and claimed I had until 11 PM to use it. What Legitimate Promotion gives a two hour window? I was going to go to Gulfstream Park Casino the very next day as I have $120 in free play for the entire month of August.

The very next day, I went to GPC Player's Club to ask them about this weird Promotion text. The Staff Member looked confused and mentioned that he felt this was a SCAM and a HOAX as they don't send ANY text Messages and mentioned this weird Text Message didn't come from GPC
He called his Boss about this weird Promotion Text and his Boss reiterated that this was a SCAM and a HOAX as they don't send Texts. I brushed it off thinking that maybe this was a one time game that some random person was doing to random people.

Last night, this number on the text called me but I was asleep. When I woke up, I got a text message from the same saying I had $60 in points for my play yesterday. I had back to back free play on Thursday and Friday. I was beginning to get a bit weirded out.

Today, I got a THIRD TEXT from this Number claiming I had two free bus tickets to go play at GPC. I am seriously getting creeped out now. This is getting disturbing especially since this number should have NO idea I take the bus....

In fact, here are the exact texts.

    First message.

    Third message.

So googling the phone number, did you find anything? And sometimes the casino in house personnel have NO idea what marketing is doing. Text messages are new and apps from casinos from Caesars to MGM are appropo now. I have seen promos on my app that the "house" didn't know about but were valid. Just a suggestion.

P.S. I didn't search it in detail but it looks like a Voice over Internet phone from Cumming or Atlanta Georgia. Is that close to the casino you frequent?

No where close. I also looked up the phone number and saw it came from GEORGIA. I live in FLORIDA. Gulfstream Park Casino is in FLORIDA.

I lean to the view that it is legit, comes from the casino. They often don’t know what each department or person is doing. They might outsource to some marketing group that assigns names by the alphabet and some higher up knows who is assigned what name. I mean, here I was in the database, OSN, backed off the BJ tables and yet I was getting comped rooms.

Back in the day when I was in the spy business, I had no idea who my handler reported to and was not even sure what federal agency he worked in. All I knew was that I did not want to be deported, my accounts frozen and they could have got me fired, my relationship destroyed so I did what they asked.

Just got a new Text saying here's a free Meal from Christine Lee's Restaurant.... I just got a Legitimate $20 Food Comp from GPC and went to Christine Lee's Restaurant on Thursday with it. Ate an $18 meal and with tax and tip included it was about $23. I only spent $3 out of pocket since tip and tax are included in the Food Comp. But the scary thing is, how does this number know I went to Christine Lee's Restaurant?

    Are you sure about this?

I've never had a food comp where tip was included. You may have stiffed someone.

I was told by Christine Lee's Restaurant Staff Member that tip and tax were included in the Food Comp when I asked. CLR Staff adds in the tip themselves to the Bill so the Comp goes toward the tip too. Keep in mind that my base meal was less than the Comp total. Meal was only $18 and $5 went to tip and tax so the entire meal was $23. CLR accepted the $20 Food Comp and I only payed $3 out of pocket. If tip and tax were not included, they would technically owe me $2 out of a $20 Food Comp and I wpuld pay $5 out of pocket and need to get an extra $2 Food Comp from them.

Hmm. The person texting me implied he is a HOST not really affiliated with Player's Club which is why Player's Club had NO idea about the Promotion Texts. He gave me a name and said he could be there to help me out if Player's Club paged him. I HAVE heard of Hosts sending personal Emails to Gamblers, hmm...
