Fierceness finished 2nd in the Classic and my show bet paid $3.20 (3/5)
a smallish payout because low odds horses finished with him but not terrible
it was pretty much a no brainer - even though he got beat he is prolly the best horse in the country
the bet would have been worthless in a small field of 7 - would prolly have only paid $2.20 (1/10)
the 13 other horses in the race made the bet worthwhile - to me anyway
City of Troy the morning line fave finished 8th - didn't like dirt as many speculated
he is ranked the #1 turf horse in the world

I started watching the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson documentary on Netflix. I predict the fight will go 4 or so rounds and that Mike will win. In the documentary, they show Jake Paul at his Puerto Rico home doing positive affirmations about beating “Iron Mike Tyson.” But when I saw that, and also when I heard him say he was going to “teach” Mike “how to box,” I thought ‘this doesn’t comport with reality.’ Mike Tyson may lose, but nobody teaches him how to box. Jake may be good, but Mike is a naturally very gifted fighter.

I would like to place $20 or so on the fight, but I live in a state that does not have sports gambling. I placed my first sports betting wagers in Las Vegas a few week ago; won one, lost one. Ended up losing $.50 on the vig (or however that should be phrased).

Any thoughts from others? Mike is left-handed, which research has shown that has been an advantage to boxers. Further, Cus taught him the unorthodox stance of putting his left foot (not his right, as his orthodox for lefties) forward so he can surprise his opponents. Also, he keeps his head low and has explosive quickness and power,. I watched (repeatedly) with awe the clips on the documentary of him sparring recently. I could not believe how incredibly quick he still is!!

Of course, Jake’s biggest advantage is his age – he is less than Mike’s age.

I don’t know any more about the “tale of the tape,” such as the comparison of height, reach, weight, etc.

I believe Jake is predicted to win. I just hope there isn’t any fight ‘fixing’ in the interest of having future rematches.

It is almost as if the participants both gain millions of dollars if the result is inconclusive, and have nothing to prevent them staging a non-result.

In other news a well-dressed lady is asking whether any one has seen her expensive diamond ring that she lost outside the gas station....

I like the Cardinals (5-4) +1.5 at home over the Jets (3-6)

Aaron Rodgers is not what he used to be

And, of course, leave it to the Giants to make Carolina look like the Chiefs!

While the game is far from over, I wouldn't make the Giants 6.5 faves over my high school team.

Mike Tyson boxing at age 58 - pretty unusual

but Albert Hughes Jr. KOed his 43 year old opponent at age 70 in 2019

here's big Al in all his glory____________(-:/

I think its not so much Tyson's age as the fact he was a shot fighter losing to journeyman even before his professional career ended.

If he had a great punch-that lasts. But Tyson's strength was in his speed and cumulative punches-these things fade fast.

posting early because I think the line might move to a worse deal
I like the Pack -5.5 over the Bears
the Bears are in a state of dysfunction - they just fired their offensive coordinator and their rookie qb is struggling
last weekend they were crushed by the lowly Patriots and the weekend before that they were crushed by even more by the not so lowly Cardinals

Yes, I took GB -5.5 as well, but don't celebrate early. This looks too good to be true, and you know what they say about that!

In an interview, I saw a former trainer or whatnot of Tyson's say that, with age, power is the LAST thing to go. He said it twice in a row. Of course he is biased toward Tyson, I would say. But still, it makes sense with respect to muscle memory and that boxing is in Tyson's blood. I would not want to be Jake Paul tonight.

Notwithstanding interference from any 'arrangement' ('fixing' the fight) with Netflix or another entity for the purpose of sensationalizing future fights, I predict the fight to be stopped in the 4th or 5th round and that Tyson will be the winner.

Anybody else care to take a side?
