I cant give theanswer on Facebook as it was a condition.

So, who can get this right, and I will give the answer after some attempts.

Attention Don - I expect you to get this on the first try.

The battle of Mathematics and English. Let’s see who can get it right ????

    Question:
1 rabbit saw 9 elephants while going to the river. Every elephant saw 3 monkeys going to the river. Each monkey had 1 tortoise in each hand.
How many animals are going to the river?

If you win, I will delete your answer so that others can still guess ????.

Winners will also have to post this.

As it appeared on Facebook. One of our forum members Is missing it.

No. That was my first choice. I even quoted another number that I said was wrong, and that a lot of people would choose.

My son was the only one that got it on the first try. A good friend if mine (non AP), one of the most intelligent people I know, took to the 3rd try, quoting - final answer is ........ Third try for me.

The way I read it, only the elephants aren't going to the river.

That’s why it is both a math and grammar quiz

Well, unless "9 elephants" and "every elephant" are different numbers, I'm stumped.

It’s subtle. Let’s wait for a few more answers. If no one else comes forward, I’ll spill the beans.

I say the answer is zero. The animals saw (past tense). The question, "How many animals are going to the river?" is present tense. The event happened in the past. The question asks about the present.

If that's not what this is about, then my second choice would be 10 - 3 monkeys, 1 rabbit, and 6 tortoises.

First, I Like your footer, but to be clear - All Chips Matter
Zero is incorrect. Your analysis for 10 is wrong, but the answer is right - so, what is the correct analysis.

    Hmmm, a notable abstention.

Oh, as an add on, we don’t know if each elephant saw the same 3 monkeys.

    But, then again............?

Do the ticks and fleas that ride on these animals count as well?

If so, the answer is undefined.

True, but all chips shouldn't be treated equally

I have no further comment on the original post. As I said, poorly worded question.

Animals going to the river = 1 rabbit, three monkeys, 6 turtoises
Total = 10 animals going to the river
