Called the Health Dept a Couple of Days Ago

Some of the casinos in the U.P. have been open for about a month now. I wanted to see if there were any cases of covid coming from folks visiting the casinos. I was surprised they even gave me any information, but the good news is they haven't seen any cases as a result of the casinos opening. I was happy about that.

I also recently got my first haircut in 3 months. None of the barbers were wearing face masks so I wasn't too happy about that. I said piss on it, it they aren't wearing one I'm not going to either.

You are in denial my friend. You decided not to wear a face mask the same reason a newbie sitting at 3rd base decides not to hit that’s 12 against a 6 even when the count/conditions called for it.

Very foolish (on both sides). Surprised masks aren't required, as in most states. Three weeks ago, when I got my first haircut in a while, not only were masks required, but the number of barbers/chairs was cut from their usual 6 or 7 to 4, with active chairs only in the corners. Also, appointments were required and everybody had to wait outside or in their cars.

I have been cutting my hair myself for nearly a year now, just using bathroom mirror and scissors and showering / shampooing afterwards. It's cheaper, no mask required, and several people told me it looks good, without knowing I did it myself.

You can learn cutting hair yourself by watching Youtube video. I did great from second time. The only drawback is no massage by pretty girls.

When I called the health dept I also inquired if barbers have to wear masks or if it is optional. I pretended to be just inquiring and didn't mention any places that weren't wearing masks as I didn't want to get them in trouble or see them shut down. I was told that both the customer and barber are required to wear a mask. It wasn't optional. However, the barber just told me the opposite.

It seems the rules are changing daily so I don't know who is right.

You're not sure who to believe, a barber or the health dept?!

If they are violating a public safety rule, you should "get them in trouble."

    +100.

Instead of everyone's looking at this as some voluntary act that is "nice" or "not nice" to do, how about we start looking at assholes in public establishments who don't wear masks as being guilty of reckless endangerment, which could lead to involuntary manslaughter for all the people they potentially can kill.

"Oh, now that you put it that way."

    Sigh.

I should have a tag line after my name, as so many of you do. Mine ought to be: The masses are asses.

Casinos in the UP likely mostly drawing from an existing pool of local residents. I'd continue wearing a mask as it reduces the rate of transmission by 80%. If you visit a destination that has a broader (more regional or national customer base) I think the greater the chance you have of getting sick. You're playing with fire until you have more info.

heres something far more important to know about the casinos in the upper penisula than if u are forced to wear a dirty mask because its all u have (more unhealthy than not wearing a mask at all).

can u find low stakes 3-2 games with $5 bets or lower anywhere still or have they jacked up the minimum bets substantlally or switched to 6-5

I know 21forme would like you to think we make our own masks out of used diapers in the U.P. but it isn't so. We have all the modern conveniences of today. Heck, I even got my first air conditioner two days ago.

And yes, you can still find 3-2 blackjack games with limits as low as $2 although some casinos that had double deck games no longer have them since cards have to be face up and no touching.
