Most people that I see who are wearing masks are not wearing N95s. Wearing a non-N95 mask to stop transmission of COVID 19 is like erecting a chain link fence to stop mosquitos.
That's why I recommend medical PPEs like gowns, face shields, hand gloves, goggles, and surgical masks. I am pretty sure the CDC would recommend the same PPE equipment. I think in the general public a face shield and surgical mask would do the work. Face shields:
According to the Iowa team, large-scale studies haven't yet been conducted. But "in a simulation study, face shields were shown to reduce immediate viral exposure by 96% when worn by a simulated health care worker within 18 inches of a cough."

People here militantly refuse to wear masks. Their typical response is "stay home you chickenshit libtard, I'm not wearing no stinking mask for an overblown fake Flu". And so it goes often followed by an obligatory "Trump 2020" or #MAGA

While I don't wish anyone harm, there are clearly two very distinct issues here: 1) the right of anyone to be an asshole and die because of being stupid, but 2) the LACK of such a right to infect someone else because of one's painful stupidity and arrogance. There need to be laws to protect the innocent against the likes of those who fall into category #2, just as there are for indoor smoking in 90% of the venues in the country.

Mount Airy Casino has reopened since 12pm today. Supervisors and boxmen wear face shields, but no facemasks. covid19 will rush into their lungs when they inhale. It seems they prefer to wear covid19-toe-tags in morgues over facemasks. Go figure!

Interesting topic. I'm in upstate NY and we have had a fair amount of infections. I will say that wearing a mask may help you, but it really is only keeping some droplets of your cough or sneeze from spreading. It also helps you to stop itching your nose/mouth etc. I wear a mask for a couple of reasons - 1) I do it out of respect to others and 2) I need it to enter a store. It's now a habit to sanitize hands prior to entering a store, wear your mask, and then sanitize your hands after shopping. It's really not a big deal......wear a mask and possibly slow the spread. The life you save may be a dear friend or relative.
It will be also interesting to see how New Jerseyans work out when they reopen casinos on Thursday, July 2.
Jerseyans are allowed to inhale the cancerous 2nd hand smoke in every AC casinos. It follows that they are allowed to inhale the deadly covid19 in the name of profit over lives.
