Can you still beat the casino

Hey guys just wanted to get some of your opinions on - can an AP still make their EV in card counting providing one has a large enough bankroll and travels the country to hit every good shop with good rules, good pen and plays with no cover and just gets backed off and moves on to the next casino trying to get 1000 hrs play in a year. Ex. With a 50,000 dollar bankroll betting strategy 1-20 , standard deviation, risk approx 0.50% , ev 109.00 an hr. Which should mean $100,000 AV in 1,000 hrs.

Don’t think you considered travel expense in your ROR Calc. It is an effect.

Ain’t going to be much fun, be very stressful, unhealthy. Hotel costs, car rental, flights, motels, factor those in and you would have to play higher stakes. It’s not much fun when you fly to, say San Francisco or Phioadelphia, take a rental car, drive an hour and then get backed off within the first 10 minutes.

    10 minutes? Seriously?

I've never been backed off anywhere in 10 minutes, unless they recognize me from a past backoff.
Must be your OSN entry and/or playing rated.

Absolutely. They may have made that decision near the end of your previous visit and got your plate number. Just waiting for a return visit.

Did anyone get backed off playing a 6 deck shoe? Does surveillance care about counters at a 6 deck shoe table or are they more concerned with double deck play?

As this is only your fourth post, you're excused. I would be reasonably sure that more counters have been backed off of 6-deck shoes than of all the other possibilities combined.

That's only because there are so many more 6 (or 8) deck shoes. If you look at incidence per table of backoffs of shoe vs. DD, I would expect DD backoffs are at least 10x higher and occur much quicker. Most experienced APs don't go near DD games for counting.

"I would expect DD backoffs are at least 10x higher and occur much quicker. Most experienced APs don't go near DD games for counting."

Strange juxtaposition of two seemingly antithetical thoughts: "backoffs are 10x higher," BUT ... "APs don't go near DD games for counting." So how does that lead to10x higher backoffs? :-)

Reminds me of a famous Yogiism: "Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded." :-)

Now, now. Let's not twist my words.
You conveniently omitted incidence per table and Most experienced to support your statement.

Do I play DD? Almost never. Does Zee play DD? Yes, mostly.

Incidence is the first derivative of prevalence. So while the number or prevalence of APs playing DD may not be great, the incidence of backoffs is determined by rate of backoffs, which is considerably higher than that of a shoe game.

And a Yogiism back atcha: "You can observe a lot by watching."

Since you brought me into it.....what you posted is what you like to believe. You or Norm can do a poll asking the question...”Have you played a DD game in 2019” and see how many card counters have. You can ask how many years of experience they have. You would be surprised.

Its what is so troubling about this forum is when people who have not played DD in 20 years, never have used a players card in decades so confidently state stuff they have no recent experience about.

OK, poll is posted (with a typo in the title that hopefully Norm can fix). Unfortunately, there's no way to ask more than one question in a poll, so it will have to reply on comments posted. BTW, Zee, you could have posted the poll yourself.

Regarding your statement "not playing DD in 20 years...," when I was a kid, I burned my hand on a stove. There's no need for me to retest my earlier experience and see if a stove will still burn my hand.
