MI Governor Lays Down the Law. Tribes Back Down

Yep, MI Governor Whitmer is one tough cookie. Several Indian tribes in MI were set to open their casinos until she stepped in and laid down the law. The tribes backed down.

Here is the threatening letter she sent to the Island Resort casino.

Had that lady been in Salem Massachusetts in the 1690’s she’d probably be in a world of trouble.

Here comes Round 2. The tribe backed down the last go around. It looks like they are now going to open on May 16th even though Gov Whitmer extended the stay at home order until May 28th. I have a feeling they aren't backing down this time, maybe because they got some backbone from the 77 year old barber in lower MI who opened his barber shop against state orders.

Members of the Michigan Militia are blocking the entrance to the barber shop so the police can't arrest him.

Interesting fact about this Karl Manke. He is the barber who has been cutting hair for 60 years and opened his shop in violation of Gov Whitmer's orders. It appears he is also an author and has written several books, but claims he has no money. At 77 he has to still cut hair to make ends meet. https://www.karlmanke.com/

Don, you should tell this guy how it's done. Just write one book and become a multi-millionaire.

LOL! Royalties from the book are consistently less than $2,000 a year. We sell about one book a day, in good times and bad. Tough way to become a multi-millionaire (although there are other ways!).

That's a big part of why I never published my work. Very little money for the risk of it impacting my anonymity, my ability to do my thing and enjoy my life unencumbered.

Not to mention the total market for your quality work would be about three people on the entire planet.

Perhaps some minuscule number as it pertains to students of the system. However, just as a picture is worth a 1000 words, an idea harvested from his work can translate to tens of thousands of dollars or more.

I’ve made money off of Tarzan, Three, Moses and others, and I’m sure others have made money off of me.

That being said, seems to me that significant effort by others, such as Don, Gronbog and I’m sure others were expended with baited anticipation by many to his supposed announced disclosure of results. Appears the masses will be disappointed.

Just because you invented using your balls for a side count, don't get carried away with its importance to the gaming world.

All so true but, unfortunately, most all that extra money only goes to a smart reader of the book.

I called the Island Resort casino today just to see if they were going to open tomorrow. Right now it's a go to open the slots tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. and the hotel opens at noon. The hotel has 330 rooms and they are completely sold out. The lady told me they could have sold at least another 200 rooms as they were in such high demand. Folks don't give a damn about the covid and there is the possibility the cops might ticket everyone as they leave the property for not obeying the stay at home order.
