You seem to be confusing withholding with your tax obligation. These are two dramatically different things. Nothing in your latest post indicates that Canadians are exempt from paying taxes on gambling winnings in America.

    Let's make a wager shall we? $1000?

No it doesn't. Your reasoning is defective.

I will never wage a penny with someone who said I was a fraud, who was showed he was wrong and who still tries to have the last word. In my world, you're a piece of shit.

I wonder whether Canadians forfeit 30% of their winnings that exceed the $1200 threshhold playing poker in the U.S. Also, does anyone know whether side bets winnings that exceed that threshold at blackjack tables trigger the same 30% deduction?

According to IRS Publication 515, "No tax is imposed on nonbusiness gambling income a nonresident alien wins playing blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette, or big-6 wheel in the United States"

I have heard that they might take the 30% when you cash out but you can later get it back in accordance with this law.

I'm not sure, but I think you guys are confusing W2-G slot wins with table games winning. Poker and other gaming tournaments may be another ball of wax also.

Could everyone please reread this entire thread and not rehash everything all over again.

    The minute I wrote it, I knew I didn't need both. It's a redundancy.

    Thanks for being vigilant.
