Just got unfairly accused of shoplifting at Walmart! :/

Just got accused of shoplifting at a Walmart today. I had purchased Messenger Bags and candy at the scan and go self checkout, changed multiple Messenger Bags, (I bought two Messengers Bags to replace my broken ones.) There was a Cashier who saw me changing Messenger Bags and putting the candy into the bags and said I didn't pay for those candies. I showed her my receipt with all of my purchases and she said "Okay." At the door I was approached by Police and Store Employees about my "Stealing." The Store Employees claimed they followed me and saw me stealing. I cussed them out so bad and showed them my receipt. They let me go. I apologized for cussing them out but didn't get an apology for the false Accusation from either the Police Officer or Store Employees. The Police Officer told me in private that "Cussing is not the best way to go about it when you're actually innocent and that the Store Employees were just doing their jobs. "I would think people being falsely accused would be the Perfect Candidates for cussing their Accusers out… and
I used to think that Walmart was such a nice and fun place to shop but now I am having huge second thoughts on it. On a side note, I was thinking about buying third Messenger Bag but decided I didn't need it anymore since the Messenger Bags I bought were sufficient. I specifically thought,"I am going to put this Messenger Bag back on the Rack so that I don't get accused of Shoplifting. " I put it back on the rack and still got accused of Shoplifting…

When you cussed out the store employees in this situation, you did not give them the benefit of the doubt that they were acting in good faith but made a mistake...which is just as insulting as being falsely accused. By cussing them out in this situation, regardless if you were wrongly accused, YOU ESCALATED the situation. You could have just as easily decided to remain calm and DEESCALATED the situation by showing a supervisor/manager/law enforcement your receipt...at which point, as related in your OP, an acknowledgement of a mistake having been made would have been made.

You can't dodge the karma bullet...if you act like a jerk, even though someone else is unjustifiably treating you poorly, you will still be perceived as acting like a jerk. It is far more gracious to understand that we are all human and humans make mistakes and consequently extend the benefit of the doubt to others.

You catch more flies with honey and you might have received an apology if you were gracious, but most people will not apologize to someone that acts like a jerk and cusses them out.

    Grow up.

Yeah, this was posted yesterday over on 2+2, with similar responses. Not sure what OP is expecting to gain by posting it here.

In the last couple years Walmart has made a significant investment in loss prevention. I'm not sure if these changes are nationwide or just local where I live. 30% of the stores product is locked up. The customer has to press a button on the locked case for an associate to respond. Historically this was limited to spray paint and possibly shaving razors.

More times than not no one comes to unlock the glass case for the customer.

    On my last trip:
    Socks - locked up
    boxers - locked up
    Sandpaper - locked up
    Screws - locked up

Another tatic I have seen is the asset protection officers following a potential shop lifters every move, standing within a few feet of them - following step for step.

I know Walmart's shrinkage rate has to be one of the highest in the nation, but this is Insanity.
After my last trip, I said no more. Absolutely the worst shopping experience ever.
