    Acceptable R.O.R

    Hello guys,
I am a new Blackjack player and have learned a lot in the last 4 months here on this forum and through watching several videos on card counting. I have the CVCJ and CVblackjack software and am trying to find a comfortable starting place with a $2000 bankroll. What is an acceptable Risk of Ruin % and bet spread with this bankroll. I have $10 3:2 tables available to me within a reasonable distance. I have a full time job so this is just something that I am starting for recreation and to grow my bankroll. Thanks!

    Jason

You have what is known as a "Hail Mary" bankroll. You have an excellent chance of losing it all, but if you are willing to take a chance, back count the game and wong in with the proper bet and wong out at -1 true. For ROR numbers and bet sizing use software such as CVCX or BRM to get that information. One's personal tolerance for risk and bet sizing will determine those numbers.

Yes I have the software, just wondering what a common ROR and bet spread would be for my "Hail Mary" bankroll.

For your hail mary roll you shouldn't really be too concerned about ROR. You are very likely to lose it no matter what you do. So just find the best game available to you, make the correct bets, and hope you get lucky.

Play to ROR of 13.36% which is full Kelly. Try to avoid negative counts and expect to replenish several times during your adventure. I started on a bankroll 40% the size of yours and played to a 4% ROR. Took me ages to build up to anything substantial without replenishing.

Take a phone call, take a bathroom break, say that you are going to the ATM, etc.

If you have been losing and the count is sufficiently negative, sit out to "change the order of the cards".

If there are other tables, move to one. That is one of the options along with the others. Early in the shoe, count goes slightly negative, take a phone call or text. Stand, watch and re-enter game when count turns positive. If it gets too negative, take a bathroom break, return in time for the next shoe. If you have done those a time or two, look for another table, preferably in another pit.

Actually you can be more aggressive with a smaller bankroll, unless the money really means a lot to you. A good rule of thumb would bring with you to the Casino 100X min bet. So if I'm playing a 6 or 8deck game I'm spreading $10-$100 dollars and bringing 1,000 for about 4Hours of play. Hope this helps.

You started with around $800 and played with a 4% ROR? or you gradually played with a 4%? What is full kelly by the way? Thanks for the input!

Full Kelly means your top bet is .075 of your total playing bank.
