    Life expectancy at birth takes into account infant mortality. Life expectancy for senior citizens takes into account average years remaining.

    Subject to actuarial tables; For example, a child born in 1950, on average, would live 70 years. A person making it to age 50 would live, on average to 75. A person living to 75 would live on average to 85 and so on.
