    Strange February..a report

After playing about 50 hours for a mere $510 in January, here is how February went. First a couple of comments..

After gathering records that show I do significantly better away from my hometown. I had posted about my belief that in at least my state, at a few casinos, the ASM were programmed to defeat card counters but many kept telling me I imagined it, that it was just variance. In February, I decided to play the ASM shuffled (which I believed were fixed) and then end the month with a planned 5 day road trip to hand shuffled decks. I cut that trip short and returned home. I don’t change the way I play the same games just cause I am on the road. Here is my February record..

Local casinos February 1st to 17th, trip starting February 20th to 24th. Local casinos all ASM shuffled, trip had all hand shuffled. One caveat, I was extremely lucky on my road trip. I just did not keep track of individual sessions during road trip, got home at night and counted the money.. Generally, I average about $45 an hour but this trip, my best ever, I was way up. Variance was with me.

    February 1st., 90 minutes, $25 DD and $15 6 deck......Plus $365

    February 2nd. 60 minutes, $15 6 deck......Minus $675

    February 4th 180 minutes, 6 deck........Minus $25

    February 15th.. 105 minutes, 6 deck....Minus $85....backed off at one casino

    February 17th. 90 minutes, DD......Minus $225

    February 1-17th, played 20.6 hours.......ASM.....Minus $1835

February 20-24th 21 hours, DD. Road trip, hand shuffled......Plus $5100
    After expenses of $300, it’s Plus $4800.

For the year (January and a February), at $3475. Don’t know yet whether I will play locally over the next 2 days.

This should be moved to the Voodoo section.
For the past couple of years, poster has been trying to say that ASM is rigged. He has joined that camp of others here in order to justify his tiny short-term losses, which has no value. Poster has no understanding of variance etc.

Zee, your numbers don't add up for the 1st thru 17th. I get minus $1,965 and 17.25 hours played. Do you use excel spreadsheet to track your results?

Your sample size is the equivalent of a gnat on an elephants ass. Totally meaningless. You should keep playing and earn the EV.

Since we're all quoting Zee's entire post, I thought I'd do it, too. My mouse wheel needed its mornbing workout.

BTW, Zee, please stop with your voodoo conspiracy theory about the ASM. As already stated above, the amount of your play is statistically insignificant.

Since I separate my games between ASM and hand-shuffled, I would say hand-shuffled games results are exactly like I played 15 years ago. But at ASM tables, I won about 55% of hands on my minimal bets, 30% of hands on my bigger bets, and only 25% on my doubles (same observation to people who are good Basic Strategy players). The sequence of ASM cards made most of my double and good players' double a loser. Now I have the third category, playing ASM but but reduce my double and play like a ploppy if my hand is 12 or 13 against dealer up card 2 to 6, on one condition, if almost every card at the table (especially a full table) is 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and ace, I would keep hitting until I made a hand, and never double 9 on the same condition. Actually I have more winning sessions in the third category now. I think I have solved my clumping problem.

    BJGenius007,

Just make your minimum bet the table maximum and clean up with your 10+% edge ;-)

This reminds me of ploppies who whine, "Whenever I lower my bet I get a blackjack!" I tell them, "That's great! On the next round bet the table max, and don't split or DD. On each round after that, lower your bet by $1 and you'll keep getting blackjacks! Guaranteed winner!" That usually silences them.

    Hope this helps!
