I don't know if your situation is like mine (which I think is ideal), but if it is, here is how I work it. There are approximately 30 casinos within an approximately a 5-6 hour drive from home. I put all of them in my rotation and stay no more than an hour at any one (up or down, the cards don't know where I am playing)...many times even less if a shoe produces a >$100 win. I love it when a dealer tells me "Hit it and quit it, that's what I'd do."
I only play once or twice a month, so the rotation and short sessions combine to make me less memorable since I'm not at any one place very often. I also change my appearance every six months and many people I know do not recognize me at first glance after a change. The place I was milking for comps dried up, so now they are at the bottom of my rotation list. Since I was playing for comps, they know who I am. It will probably be over a year before I go back; when I do it will be on a different shift so I will try to play unrated there from now on.
I don't worry about cover or ratholing; I do frontcount and Wong out and occasionally backcount; use spreads between 1:8 and 1:20 depending on table minimum; and buy in for 10 units of the table minimum or less (5 units if backcounting) with small bills. I'm sure some day I'll get the tap, but it has not happened yet; I've been counting for about 3 years.
