Casino Error in year-end win/loss Statement

My friend had this happen to him.

He was playing a machine that does not ever give out a w2g. On game play he lost around 17k. He had around 30k in free play.

He got his win/loss record for the year and it was absolutely absurdly shocking. It had him down as in the positive for the year to the tune of...... $398,000!!!!!

How can the casino be THIS FAR OFF?

He ONLY played this one game and never had a w2g. I cant ecen begin to think of how this would be possible. The rest of us had stats very close to what was actual wins.

    Concerns with this number.

Can the IRS or the casino come looking at him and wondering how he won all tjis money, where it went, and why taxes werent paid?

Also part of me feels like if i tell the casino about the error they may go looking into the game he played, and we dont want to bring attention to the game.

    Thoughts/advice?
May the Variance be with you.

If no W2G then there is no IRS reporting. W2G's are required in certain payoff instances but not as a record of your wins/losses. That win/loss report is for (1) comps and (2) for your personal use.

Someone likely made a reporting error on this one (imagine that a casino manager made an error!). It is just administrative, ignore it. Actually it will be great for his comps, take advantage of it!

How could a casino manager make this error when all of the game play was on machines?

Likely some slots manager set the theo rate on a machine wrong. Unless they issued W2G, ignore it.

Otherwise predicting the stupidity of casino management is a 0% EV game.
