Thread: Not a winning game

    Not a winning game

The blackjack simulator i run shows a bet spread of 10 to be something like the following:

    +0 0 units
    +1 1 unit
    +2 3 units
    +3 5 units
    +4 7 units

    etc.

Why is +0 0 units? is that realistic? if you start a shoe, isn't it 0?

Right now, when i put 1 unit at +0, it shows a losing game!

What simulator do you have. Qfit has the best that's out there, but it's quite expensive.

That's probably because a 1-7 spread is not enough to beat that game playing all and not wonging in at +1.

You can purchase CVCX and get a good benefit without paying the price of CVData. I think it would suit most people's purposes here without breaking the bank. I think the combo CVBJ and CVCX is a value for most. Not an ad for Norm's products but I find these two quite useful.

Putting in 1 unit at zero count and at all negative counts is a winning spread for most bj games. I assume this is a six deck game.

Here is an example of CVCX with such a spread. Look at the custom bets.

I really respect your right to feel this way, and I am not trying to start an argument. It is just that every time someone makes a post like this - it makes my head explode. I really do not understand how someone who wants to make money at this, is reluctant to spend a couple of dollars to improve their EV. If someone has a bankroll so small that the cost of software would affect their ROR, maybe they should think about buying the software and learning more, while they save other money to increase their bankroll. Either that or purchasing soon after their Hail Mary approach can be said to have succeeded. Now, I know that is not your issue, you just don't want to spend money on it. I am responding because if I were just starting and read that post, I would think the software is an order of magnitude higher than it actually is. Either that, or I would think this counting thing is not worth doing after I looked up the cost of software. To be honest, this is a pet peeve of mine in areas outside of AP also. I am always reminded of the old saw "If you think education is expensive...you should try ignorance."
Note that I am only responding to the issue of software cost. I am not referring to the difficulty of learning some of it.

There are a hell of a lot of AP’s who won long before software became available so there are some of us that want to do it the same way. Maybe it’s easier and faster to take the elevator to the 3rd floor but you don’t have to put down those that take the stairs.

I apologize to anyone who feels that I was putting them down. To stay with your analogy, it is my belief that you have the right to take the stairs for whatever reason you may have. My concern has to do with the stated reason for taking the stairs. Since the elevator is free, it does not make sense say you are taking the stairs due to the cost of the elevator. Again, this is not an attack - just an observation.

Good point. I thought he was balking because software does cost and because it’s not entirely necessary.

Not entirely necessary??? Only if you don’t want to make money... there are so many variations in casino rules and players bankroll that you can’t find a one size fits all spread. Don’t preach irresponsible advise.

CVCX pays for itself pretty quickly even for a red chipper on a “crap” 8D H17 NS 75% pen game. I wish I started to use it since day 1.
