    Las Vegas question about rooms

A friend is visiting Las Vegas, knows I have been there often but I can’t help him. He and his spouse going there. He asked which of the casino hotels are better. Bally’s, Harrah’s and Flamingo? Does any of those have parking close by the rooms or is a long walk? Which has nicer rooms and service?

Man, each of those is different, even though all Caesar's properties. Besides, asking someone which place is better depends on what they are looking for. Flamingo definitely has a nicer pool than Harrahs. Harrahs rooms are closer to the casino. Flamingo rooms can be quite a walk. Ballys is close to the Grand Bazaar Shops. Flamingo and Harrahs are close to the Linq Promenade. Zee, it depends upon what they are looking for and therefore your question is difficult to answer. All of them have nice rooms depending upon which ones you like, as Harrahs and Ballys have been recently remodeled.

IIRC, Flamingo’s parking garage is a pretty long walk to the room. Harrah’s is pretty good. The garage is close to the rooms. I’ve never stayed at Bally’s.

Flamingo is usually my go to place when staying on the Strip. You just can't go wrong with the price point, considering the cost of surrounding properties. The pool is great, but yes, as others have pointed out, you can walk for what seems like an eternity before getting anywhere.

I was once woken up at Bally's at 5 am to loud banging on my door. I didn't bother getting out of bed hoping the knocking would stop. It didn't. When I opened the door a very scantily clad woman was standing there. She smiles and asks "Did you call for a girl"? As I said no and was closing the door she says "Wait wait wait baby what's your name"?

Apparently if you leave a do not disturb sign on your door at Bally's ladies of the night roam the halls and take shots. That way they at least know the room is occupied. That's why it's nice to stay in a spot that makes you show your room key before you can access the elevator.

Perhaps not Flamingo then! It's a fair walk everywhere, that is, unless you get a room very close to the Habitat elevators.

In my case, I have several trips scheduled, a couple to Zola’s Vegas, over the next 3 months but the Missus wants me to cancel those due to the Coronavirus. Says it’s especially bad for older folks. Wonder if it’s going to affec5 tourism to Las Vegas

Of the ones you named, then I would tell them Harrahs. Parking is easy; just up escalator to main garage or walk across one alley/driveway from entrance/hotel reception (which is back of Harrahs). All the elevators to the rooms are right by/into the casino.

If they are driving a car, I would make sure they write down what floor they are parked on and what garage. East, south, north, west etc. One time many years ago I visited Harrahs and forgot what floor I was on. All the floors look the same and all the different parking lots look the same. So I was there for at least an hour clicking my remote and hearing a car beep on a floor that I wasn't. It was a nightmare. I do have and excuse though, I was doing a sporting event at one of the off-strip casinos and was dead tired when I visited. Won't make that mistake again.

Zee, I'm in the same boat as you. I scheduled a trip to Laughlin in the coming months, and now I'm wondering if I should cancel it because of the coronavirus. The trip is a comped trip except for some new $30 charge that all comped folks have to pay so I won't be out much if I do cancel.

I do feel I'm safer in Laughlin than I would be in Vegas. Maybe the weather will get so damn hot the virus can't survive for long. Anyway, I surely don't want to bring the virus home to my wife who has asthma.

I never touch elevator buttons. I will use my room key or players card to push the button. A pen works well also. Where I live for six months of the year it is cold enough for folks to not think its strange if you have gloves on. No need to actually touch any surface except if you are playing blackjack and those chips are damn dirty.
