    Colorado max hand bet question

    Hi Everyone,

I'm researching Colorado gaming and it sounds like there is a max limit of $100 per hand, correct?

What happens if you bet $100 but get a double down or split? Can you double down / split or can you not make any additional wagers? I can't seem to find this question specifically answered anywhere.

Almost universally, the meaning of a max-bet limit is a max original bet on one hand. You always have the option to double down or split. Otherwise, no one would ever make such bets if you were then subsequently forced to play your hand wrong because of the "limit."

Thanks Don. That is what I was hoping to hear.

Don is correct with a few caveats.

If you play video BJ, the machine max is $50, so you can double or split once, but that's it.

If you play Mississippi Stud at Ameristar, they list the limit as $10-100. However, if you ante $100, you CANNOT raise your bet on any of the "streets" due to the $100 limit. So you wouldn't want to ante more than $33. Extremely misleading and deceptive practice!

In Colorado, especially at DD, while the max bet is $100 per spot, each player gets 3 spots which makes for some difficulties. For instance, there are 3 people, each with 3 spots in front of them. You can play 1,2 or 3 spots with $25-$100 at each spot.

Now, if you are playing heads up it’s simple. You can start with $25 on one spot, go to $100 each on one or two or three spots or anything in between.

However, with 1-2 other players, you never know how many spots are going to be played each round. Player A may start with 2 spots, go down to 1 or 3 spots on the next round, Player B May play all 3 spots all the time or 1 spot all the time, Player C may do his own stuff.

So 9 separate hands between 3 players could possibly happen at the same time? That would be crazy to see.

Yes, it does. It’s when you look for another table. The strange stuff is when a ploppy is putting $25 on one spot, $35 on the second and $45 on the third.

Don't forget a chip on each of the 2 side bets per spot!

Why do you say ploppy? This is could be an advantage player who thinks outside of the box of always betting X$ at Y count

It slows the game down. Poor strategy if an AP.

Yes it does. Also eats cards. But if it is the last hand before a shuffle it is a good way to look ploppish, while also getting money out and not looking like a counter.

Agree. And a way to get $100+ on the table... maybe the count is good? And still look like a ploppy.

There is more than one casino in Blackhawk with DD games, fyi. I haven't been able to play in BH recently, but unless something has changed, i only know one casino does what Zee is referring to with the 3 spots.
