Do You Like the Change in CBJN

For several months now, CBJN has been updating blackjack conditions by telephone for casinos that have gone more than 18 months without a in person visit by a reporter. I don't know how far along in this process they are or if this is just an experiment for a certain region of the country.

I think it is a great idea as you can get really good info by phone as I have done many times for my personal use. I noticed some of the casino reports in northern MN are like 7 years old. I wish Al Rogers would comment on this and how it is working out. I imagine getting rules is pretty easy, but getting pen is a different story. I've had the friendliness of the conversation change when I asked about pen.

So far, all comments have been positive. Yes, the pen is hard to accurately pin down. In the absence of meaningful, believable changes reported by the employee being interviewed, we leave the pen entry the same as it was on the last in-person visit.

These calls are certainly not meant to replace in-person reports, which have been the best and only way of reporting for the over forty years that CBJN has been published. But for the mostly low-demand, out-of-the way places that do not get regular visits from reliable reporters, they seem to be a way to at least get some semblance of current information. As explained in CBJN:

The letter "t" after the report date indicates that the last in-person report was over 18 months ago, and we therefore updated the information by telephone interview with appropriate casino personnel. The reader is cautioned that this information is dependent on the knowledge and integrity of the casino employee(s) providing it. We offer the information in the belief that a fresh telephone report is likely more useful than a very old in-person report.

Al, have you guys decided to bring back casinos to the list that haven’t been updated in a while? I know a while back, I think you mentioned that some casinos that weren’t updated were taken off the CBJN list. Is that true? Or has that been reversed now?

    Hi Al,

Would be so nice to see the CBJN information extend to other country, especially the Caribbean.

If we'd like to report on conditions, is there a specicfic email address to do this?
