Trying to make my own count. Probably wrong

120 2-6 192 7-A. Giving 2-6 a +1.6 and 7-A -1. Multiply each by 2 and you get 3.2 and -2. Round the 3.2 to 3 and your short by 12 units but not cards, factoring in +4 for every 1/4 shoe. Then divide by two to get your running count then divide by decks remaining to get true count. I know that is not accurate maybe you could keep track of every ten low cards you add a point on top of running count. Anyways I was thinking of using this for an advantage over hitting 16 and under. Should I worry about trying to balance it out or leave it unbalanced as it is a 8/5 ratio. Is this stupid? Been counting for 3 weeks using hi lo. Trying to find something more versatile. I’ve done about 10 shoes of this practicing at home and it’s been working ( atleast I think it’s been working haha ) I’m new to counting so I’m probably in way over my head. Thankyou for advice!

I'm of the opinion that if Hi-Lo is good enough for the MIT team, then it's good enough for the rest of us too. What about the rest of the indices using this system? And can you use this system properly for hours at a time in a real casino? I taught myself Hi Opt 1 and was actually getting pretty good at it. The only problem was I wasn't sure what the proper indices were, and so I went back to Hi-Lo.

I personally don’t believe they used hi lo “at all times” I’m not saying they did or didn’t just an opinion of mine. Why would such brilliant minds use one of the most basic 2nd grade systems? Hi lo does work very well I will say. I was getting tired of disregarding 7-9 because in my book those cards will bust out a 15 any day. I’ve been practicing this count and I’ve gotten pretty quick learning that a hi and a lo value card together is simply going to be +1 and 2 high cards with a low card will equal -1. Kind of how you get so used to cancelling out in hi lo. Indices I have no idea I just started using this system at home trying to practice as much as I can to see if I can see atleast profitable short term results. So far it’s working. It helps a lot with determining if your actually getting a low card instead of risking it and getting a 7-9 thrown at you instead. I asked myself why would I gamble with hi lo when the dealer can get just as good of cards as I can. I want an advantage on the field I can use for every hand not just luckily drawing higher values than the dealer. This count still tells you if your at a high count as well so I don’t see it being a bad system, though I don’t have the tech to run it through SIM. Would be awesome to run it through 6D HS17 DAS S4 DD after 2 and no surrender.

Many counts besides Hi Lo to use, no need to reinvent the wheel "Mr. Squares". Many APs use Hi Lo due to it's simplicity, which reduces mental fatigue and errors. I personally use REKO 6 Deck Full, which is even easier than Hi Lo (no TC conversion), but still performs within fractions of percentage points of Hi Lo efficiency in the six deck game (it even performs better than Hi Lo in poor penetration games if Hi Lo were to use the same indexes as REKO 6D F) and I can count all day long if I want to. Here is a brief summary of available counts for your review.

Also, if you're going to take the game seriously, I highly recommend you bite the bullet and purchase CV Data. In the long run it will save you many times its cost by allowing you to run your own sims and answer most of your "I wonder if..." questions on your own without having to blindly accept someone else's potentially incorrect answer.

The higher the stakes you play, the more need of an “act” and cover. A simple count means you are not looking at cards directly for long, making conversation with ploppies, flirting, acting inebriated, etc.

I play in MO I count right in front of the bosses all day they couldn’t kick me out if they wanted to. I know they can alter the game but I’ll just leave at that point. I bet no more than 50-75$. Starting at 10$. I play up to 12 hours a day and wong at the table all the time and get 1/2-3/4 deck pen ( not shoe)! it’s wonderful!

It’s so crazy I only get it with two dealers ( my favorite two ) they get tipped pretty well. One even told me to look into the MIT team and how they beat black jack. My response was me acting like I had no idea what that was.....
