Rain where it does not, cowboy hats and line danc8ng...

Did not check when making a trip here. Day after I landed, it rained all day (don’t remember any rainy days in 10+ trips the year before. Hotels expensive as were car rentals. Cowboy hats, blue jeans, pretty cowgirls, idiotic players, crowded tables. Three nights and I am on way out, still at airport.

Played about 18 hours, 20+ sessions at 12 different casinos, usually cut short by too many at table slowing things to a crawl. Too many folks seem to be in town, tables were crowded.

I won about $1200. After costs, about $700.

Given that it’s my last trip, maybe I will get 10-15 hours more by the end of year. Hoping to remain even or slightly up. Comes to about $5 an hour after the year, huh.

Only interesting thing is I walked into the HL area of a downtown casino, a $25 table, saw a young man, no more than mid 20’s with his girl friend, likely Eastern European, playing at the table, I pulled out $200, placed my $25 bet, the guy was playing purples, has about 50 of them. The pit guy, looking like a mobster with hat, pinstriped suit. The dealer, pretty girl with boobs almost falling out.

I had had not noticed the guy was playing purples, he removed the purple chip, said something and I was ready to leave but the pit guy said “hey, he can play too!”. I guess the young guy was winning big, had pissed the pit guy. In any case, he decided to just watch while I played. I played the one shoe, colored up winning $125. The pit guy said I can play but I said, the other guy is playing purple and sitting out, it’s not fair and left.

Wondered if the guy won. I had never seen anyone betting purples only.

In any case, my flight leaves in a few minutes....

Before a Vegas trip I always look at the city's convention/event schedule. DOn't want to be there when tens or hundreds of thousands of "extra" people are there.

Oh, downtown, all three stages playing music, a small group of cowboys/girls doing some line dancing....The days of going to bars at night being long gone, I don’t get to see much line dancing but my memory is that of cowboy hats prominent among co7ntry music line dancing.

It seems that there is always at least one convention. I checked this for September and October, when it is not too hot like in August.
