You can run into lots of whacky people in casinos (to include probably a whole lot of people you just don't want to know). The vast majority of them aren't advantage players in any way, shape, or form, and some think they are but aren't. Those few that are will only be detectable by other counters/APs. What if the casino was haunted and it was Stu Unger's ghost?

Genius is not the issue, a third-grader can understand "how" to count but it takes rote memory to internalize it so that you can be fast and effective with NO ERRORS.

If you have not been "tested" then I doubt you are what I would call as "table ready" in a week, so be careful. The guy you were playing with was not an AP based on your description of his actions. He was a gambler.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

I understand I don’t have a perfect game yet as I said before, and that’s why we’re at the lowest minimum bet we can find, and keeping the spread low like mr. freightman said. I’d say currently I’m not making mistakes on keeping the running count, and I have basic strategy down completely. I still need to get the illustrious 18 memorized better because I’m off by one or so on a few of those. Also, I still need to get better at calculating how many decks are left to get a more accurate true count. I also need to increase my speed. I’ve been timing myself on counting a deck and I seem to always finish at 45 seconds or a little less. Edit: wanted to add that because we are at these lower tables, the game goes by really slow because there’s usually people asking questions, and the dealers are never fast. It’s easy to keep a count in this situation.

So I realize we are nowhere near being perfect players, I know there are more things to learn than what we’re currently looking into, and I wonder why people are getting that idea when we’ve both said we’re novices and still learning. As far as the crazy dude predicting cards, someone else already verified to us that he was indeed counting among other more advanced systems that we can’t use as noobs.

Im saying that someone more knowledgeable than we are said they’ve seen the guy out before and he is an AP. We obviously couldn’t tell, but someone else who has seen him could.

Ok, i will spell it out for you . very rarely do AP out themselves by showing off and acting like they know anything. Those are sometimes called wannabe AP or amateur. whatever terms you would like to choose . This persons clearly did that , Therefore there is a high chance he/she is not an AP. Also you can't just predict cards unless... you have extra info. Don't just listen to others without thinking is all i am saying.

Even knowing the approximate composition of the "slug" an Ap would not say it out loud to draw attention to oneself. That is how i reached my conclusion . I may still be wrong assuming he/she is not an AP although it is more likely not the case imo.

And also Stealth is a knowledgable AP(he didn't think the dude was an AP) , that also helps me make a better guess.

See my post 25, where I indicated that I just might know the guy, and invited OP to contact me and describe the individual. Although not for sure, I probably do know the individual, who is an established counter with a real problem in keeping his yap shut.

I first met him at GN in Vegas when I sat down, and the dirty look he gave me when I indicated that I sometimes es spread to 2, and if he would move his bet over. We both suspected each other at that point. He also took it upon himself to coach ploppies.

He was originally from an Eastern Canadian city, and after numerous backoffs, moved to a city within my trading zone. With his mouth and blatant super spreads, he was disinvited from several stores in the area and again relocated, this time to a costal city. Last bumped into him in that coastal city. He had been bounced from a couple of the big stores there as well. Descriptions which included general race, height, general manner suggest to me, though not 100%, that we were discussing the same individual.

Simply put, he just had a big mouth. Virtually certain that he does not peruse the forums.
