Thread: The "Infamous tap," how do you handle it?

grmax. I had same thinking like yours, The most local store share my name so now I have only 2 places to go to but I use extreme caution and camu so its limit my EV. At one place the floor tapped me after 2nd round of very 1st shoe, standing quietly near him are 2 burly security men. He said in calm and clear voice "Mr CC, we have you on the list so please not to play BJ" he turn to securities and told them to show me the cage then the door. Those men say nothing, one walked in front mean to show me the way and other walked about 10' behind. That was most irritating backoff I had, other B Os just simple like " welcome to our casino, you can play anything but bj"

    Really bad advice....

When tapped, leave without comment or response to their questions, do not cash chips, walk off the property. Deal with chips, cars, friends etc later.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!

My last back off escalated to a trespass as I went straight to the restroom after the back off. I had been delaying my natural urge as I had several shoes in a row with favorable conditions. Upon exit of the restroom the shift manager was waiting for me for the trespass.

I completely agree, but if they trespassed me and I had no friend or trustful person with me to cash my chips later, then I would have no choice but cash them myself before leaving (not being able to return without the risk of getting arrested then) (?). This is a serious question because I have no experience with such back-offs.

I was playing at a joint years ago sitting at 3rd base stacking chips and betting heavy when I heard the phone ring at the kiosk where the pit personnel were standing. A lady pit boss answered the phone the looked directly at me. When she hung up the phone she looked in my direction then stepped from behind the desk and started walking directly toward my table. "Here we go", I thought. Then she walked around to the 3rd base side of the table and dropped a comp slip to the steakhouse next to me and said with a smile, "Enjoy your meal" and walked back to the kiosk. I thanked her on the way out and she said to come back next time I was in town.

The only time I was backed off was the first time I tried card counting, back when Vegas was the only game in the country. I had been in town for a week, playing low stakes, breaking even, and was heading to the airport when I decided to play one more short session. I sat at a $2 table and had been there for about 10 minutes when the boss walked over and started kicking the leg on the table. When the dealer finished shuffling I put a $5 bet in the circle and the boss pushed it back at me and said, "You're done here. Pick up your chips and cash out". I asked what was going on and he said, "You're leaving, now get out of here." My top bet was a whopping $15. That was when I realized there was more to beating the game than running count, true count, and card play.

Question about getting the "Tap," and chips. Why wouldn't a Casino at least allow you to take your unplayed chips after getting the "Tap?" I mean at least one person said that he is forced to leave his unplayed chips on the table after getting the "Tap," and askes his Friend to go pick up the unplayed Chips later. I mean unless you are already trespassed/Self excluded(Some idiot won a huge Jackpot when she was on the Self Exluded list. The Casino kept the Jackpot, kept her bankroll and threw her out of the Casino with a Tresspass charge), there really is no reason to keep chips from someone who was not on the Trespass/SE list prior to the "tap,". :/

I wonder why the boss kicked you out when you weren't playing very high bets, $15 being the most you were playing. :/ I honestly bet more on Roulette($20).

    Blackjack Newbie,

I'm puzzled: where did you see this claim?

I've been "tapped" dozens of times but have never been denied the opportunity to take my chips from the table.

I think you've misunderstood. The advice is after getting the tap is to leave immediately...taking your chips...and letting a friend comeback later to cash in.

Also, I too have the question asked above...what if you're solo without someone you trust. I guess bite the bullet and cash out? Or leave and return later? Does that leave you open to being trespassed?

So I stand corrected, this BO proved EV positive LOL. The shoe stayed TC+2 all the way through the end btw.

One way to handle this issue is to leave immediately, and return at least a couple of shifts later. If you are playing at a high enough level, it may be worth staying at your hotel for an extra day or two. The optimum response may be to hold on to the chips until you return to the area (if you can stand waiting that long). This is one of the reasons that many of us have a stash of chips.

I dream of the day they steal my money. More so of being back-roomed against my will, but stealing my money will suffice. Because that's the ultimate EV play....
