    basic strategy chart question?

The blackjack basic strategy chart- the chart that provides the dealer up card value on the top and the players card total on the side that tells you to hit, stand, etc... Are these hit/stand results calculated assuming the hole card (the dealer's card facing down) is always 10 or are they calculated using all the card values (Ace, 2, 3, etc...)?

No. The only thing they assume is that the downcard is not one of the visible cards.

    jj2082,

Think of it this way: if the chart always assumed a 10 in the hole, it would tell you to Hit with 19 vs. a 10.

    Hope this helps!

    Not the hole card alone.
Basic Strategy was calculated by the Four Horsemen considering what the odds of the final outcome of a dealer's hand would ultimately be dependent on the dealer's upcard, regardless of which card might first be in the hole,
and compared that to the odds of the player's outcome of either busting or making a competitive hand in the immediate next action.

It weighs the odds of winning more and losing less considering the final outcomes of both hands based on just the initial input of the one dealer upcard vs. the player's most current hand total.
