Dealer at Wendover helped the table count.

This past weekend in Wendover, a dealer said to an entire table "Wow, look at all the little cards that were dealt" after the first round of the top when RC went to +3 or +4. Everyone else at the table was probably a Fun Bus Ploppy that didn't bet more the next hand. Seems like they are very tolerant, possibly due to their D9 rule. Andrew Uyal, author of The Blackjack Insiders won something like 15 thousand from Wendover before being politely backed off, and he did it under Double Any Two.

I don't think 15 thousand is much to get excited about. Over what time period did he do this?

I believe he did it in two sessions a year or less apart. On his second session, he just kept winning with little or no losing. Keep in mind, his second session was specifically his last Blackjack trip for a while, so in a sense, he went out with a bang in Wendover.

Dudes. I could tell you some stories about that place back in the day. A river of money left that town back in the 90s.

I'd certainly love to hear stories about Old Time Wendover. About 4 months ago, they changed from Double any two to only double 9 through 11. A few years ago, they even tried only Double 10 and 11, but switched back to any two after tons of complaints and decreased customers. Utah however, has grown a ton population wise since the 90s, so I can't figure out why so much money left the town, except maybe for the Great Recession of 2008.

$7,000 in 14 hours is the best I ever did and not a bet over $100.

A ton of money left that town because they thought they could win dealing 8 rounds HU for weeks on end.

Wendover is polite until they’re not. When they told me to knock it off it was anything but polite.

I don't get restricting doubling from a business standpoint. When players double on anything other than 10-11, they're doing it wrong as often as not. Why not let the ploppies double on 6, or on A2 vs 2 and take the money?

^ Yep. It’s the same thing with surrender. People misuse it so often I wonder why it’s not a standard rule everywhere.

If they are afraid of counters (and they should be at single deck) then those rule changes make good sense. They have pretty much cut our edge by triple by doing this. A quick sim shows a 1 to 4 spread hourly is around 60% of max bet for H17 double all. If we change this to H17 D10 then our hourly is now around 20% of max bet. To offset this we have to spread to somewhere around 15 to 1 to make up the difference. That was pretty smart move imo.

I had a pit boss "help me count" on dd one night. We kept joking about counting (as i was playing) and he said they dont care about counters. So i said wow ok lets do it. You keep track of faces, ill keep track of baby cards, and dealer you keep track of the aces! (Of course they were terrible at trying, but it looked like i was even more degenerate whenever the pb would tell me "lots of face carda have came out..." and im just like, OH WELL MAX BET, IM FEELING IT!! lol
