"I'm going to insure that 20 but not my lousy 15, it's not worth saving"

"I'm going to hit this because you just busted me on that one" or "That double sucked, I'm just going to hit this one"

"I need to play a different spot, this one isn't working! Crap, now this one isn't working."

"Do I need my face cards to be the same in order to split them? My grandpa always told me that splitting kings was his trick to win big"

"I might as well double this hand because I'm only going to take one card no matter what."

"Dude, that was a sick hit, you saved the whole table!"

"Can you add these up for me? I don't want to screw it up."

Because talking is the best cover.

I don't talk like a ploppy, because my play will give me away. i will however talk like a degenerate gambler.

"notice how hot the craps table is?" (or "I just have to go and throw a bet on the pass line" when time to Wong out)

"who do you like in tonight's game?" (or "I have to go a place a bet on that tip right now" when time to Wong out)

"Wow that table looks hot!" / "Wow this table is cold" (when Wonging out/in to a better table/less players etc.)

Talk poker, sports, craps....I try not to talk blackjack....my response is usually "they are your cards, play them however you like" and try to shift the conversation to Monday Night Football

Its why many of us go to a casino. It’s not just the money, it’s the company, the comraderie (dealer, pit girl, boobs exposed hostess, the funny regulars, etc), it’s a way to pass time, it’s cover, etc.

Ah, that makes more sense. I don’t do that much talking at the table but when I do, I make sure to sound like a troglodyte.

A good one I heard the other day was a 16 v dealer 10. The ploppy goes...”You never hit 16 ever.” In dead serious mode.

Maybe that was me. I never hit my 16 v dealer 10.

Is it because you surrender instead? Or only play in positive counts?

I was thinking of that too^^^. Seems like an overall good cover play considering the ev lost is minimal. All while “playing wrong.” Cool.

When they ask me what I do for a living I tell them I am with the "Mattress Police". The boss usually has to think on that for a bit...
